There is a difference between enforcing genes and changing genes. When you breed dogs you are enforcing or exaggerating genetic qualities those genes or gene segments stay the same the only difference happens in the genes responsible for allocating resources to those parts of the organism. When a fish starts to develop a lung thats evolution I would like to see a similar process repeated otherwise the mutations that happen randomly at different places in the genome, the only natural way to change an organism, cannot yield a new organ or biological system let alone different species like cats and dos there have to be intelligent factors at work.

Obviously you prove that you don't really understand evolution. You are just using old arguments by creationists that have been debunked time and time again.

Yeah I'm amazed this thread lived. I'm glad though, I can't remember any thread that's maintained a steady level of civility while still talking about religion. As for the poll I stand at 6. I'm not so naive as to think I can prove or disprove God's existence however I do find it highly improbable and not worth caring about. My life would be far worse if I did beleive in God, so I shall continue living the life of a non-theistic Satanist.

Not to insult your beliefs, but is that the same Martin Luther who inspired the term "Lutheran"?

Among others, he wrote a book named On The Jews and Their Lies, in which Luther advocated the destruction of synagogues, seizing Jews' property and money, and destroying their homes, in order that these "poisonous envenomed worms" would be forced into labour or expelled "for all time".

I would have to agree with curlycrouton. I have always found Baby Tea to be a respectable guy, but without any disrepect - Martin Luther was an asshole and a perpetuator of the dark ages. Aswell as all the anti semitic stuff, he openly rejected and critiscised reason and logic. He was extremely dangerous and undoubtedly had a detrimental effect on the progression of the human race.

I am a three point zero in that I am not sure if there is a God or not but I mostly think that there is a God. However, if he does indeed exist then I am not sure what he (or she, in the spirit of open-mindedness) wants me do to about it.

If you are thinking of the Christian god, I think it's pretty safe to say "He".

No, mutations are not few and far between. What is the flaw you are talking about? I think I know, because it's a common quote about the eye that has been proven to be a quote-minded statement because the rest of the quote explains why the eye evolved as it did, but please let me be wrong and share with me the point he made.

Even if it doesn't make sense, why should it logically follow that God created it? Science can't explain everything, it probably never will be able to. But just because there is a gap in our knowledge doesn't mean you have to fill it with God.

it cannot create the diverse systems that are common out of thin air. Its like saying gills directly evolved to lungs and anything in between that jump was non-beneficial so the organism dies and there is no change.

I'm about 4-5. There may be a god but if there isn't and you die you don't lose much but if there is a god and you do die not believing in him/her then there might be consequences.

Pascal's Wager = Fail, because believing is not something you can do as a matter of policy. Also, you're setting up a false dichotomy where you assume that there either is or is not the particular deity you have chosen. Why not any other? Wouldn't an atheist fair better when confronted after death by (insert name of alternative deity) than a christian who believed in one of said deity's rivals? This argument is a essentially a bet, but would you bet on your chosen deity valuing faked belief over honest skepticism?
