I just want to know what others here think which of these two options is worse:
Repeating a thread even though the last similar one died months ago.
OR
Bringing an old thread back, even if the OP was some months ago.

Obviously I am aware that if a thread is repeated within a week of a similar one is considered bad practice, as is reviving a thread that is at least a year old. In the instances in the poll I'm talking in the time frame of yesterday to 3 months ago.

So I'm throwing it over to you.
I would say after 3 months brining a new thread back isn't so bad because they'll be new members able to voice their opinions on it. Repeat threads rather annoy me, especially if they copy something that was popular, seems like and attempt to get a badge. Oh and if the title is "your favourite game of all time" or "why Halo isn't that good" we get too many of those

And when I read "thread necromancy" my first thought was of some zombie ball of twine (spelling?)

It depends on how dead the thread is...
If the thread has been dead for 3 months or more well then it should stay dead.

The topic you're digging up needs to be a very close or exact match to the topic of your thread.

I'd say on average that repeat threads bother me more than necro'd threads.
That's mostly because repeat threads are a more common occurrence in every forum I've browsed.

I prefer already existing threads, as repeat threads usually just take up space. Once, there was a thread made on one day about one topic, then another thread was made the next day on the exact same topic and then another thread was made on the exact same topic the day after.

Only acception being when the already existing threads brought back are no longer in context. Like Cpt_Oblivious and his complain about a cristmas card thread being resurrected yesterday.
