Err... Okay, what happened to the rest of the people on the planet? Are they still around (or their corpses at least), do I have access to medical facilities? What about research material?
If I have access to the corpses, and sperm banks, egg donors, and medical facilities, then there's no problem. We'd have to be used as incubators, of course, which might not be the nicest thing ever, and often not for our own kids either, but we could easily repopulate a small part of the world, with a lot of genetic material. I'd never allow the earth itself to be repopulated, that's far too many people, and it wouldn't work. I'd see it as a chance to write up some new laws that would make things work, and since I'd literally, be the creator of an entire species, much of it from my direct genetic material, I could probably count on some importance being given to my written word. I mean seriously now, people believe in a ghost impregnating women randomly and creating the world in seven days, if something as irrational as that could be believed, then me clearly documenting (since they have to be careful about what genetic material they spread, and how, so as to avoid inbreeding) how I created the new human species could as well.
