Happened to me too! Difference is that millions of people are screwing him for his mistake.Ickorus said:I feel sorry for him, I used to be a goalkeeper in my school team and I made a near identical mistake which lost my team the match. It's not nice when everyone is being a twat to you for cocking up once and completely ignoring all the excellent saves you made.
Well for one, I will be offended at you calling us Brits. When it was the English team. Tsk tsk.Cheery Lunatic said:
He missed the ball. It bounced up just as he was about to kick it. It still ruined his international career though, which is a shame as he's usually quite a good goalie.SextusMaximus said:Paul Robinson still hasn't quite recovered from his mistake in goal a few years back, when he struck the ball - only for it to bounce backwards into the net.D4zZ said:The game was yesterday, the media will forget about it as soon as something else happens.
We have a few more games left at least, someone else will cock up and he won't be on his own any more.
It was fucking appalling though, like you said it's his job and he gets paid millions of pounds for it, and I genuinely think I could have done better.
Couldn't have worded it better myself, and I completely agree with you.Portal Maniac said:The man is being attacked, attacked, over something as trivial as a game.
That's all it is. A GAME. And he made a mistake. Big fucking whoop. I guarantee you that every, single, person has made enough mistakes to fill a book. No body's perfect, as humans aren't perfect.
Why shouldn't I feel sorry for him? He made a mistake and everyone's pissed at him over something as trivial as a game.
I see where you're coming from.., but here's where I think you're wrong.Portal Maniac said:The man is being attacked, attacked, over something as trivial as a game.

We may get pissed off and as a nation dislike players who make major mistakes, especially in the later stages. Look at how Beckham was treated after getting sent off against Argentina. We don't actually kill our players however, unlike Columbia who assassinated a defender who scored an own goal back in the 90's.Sonicron said:I kinda feel sorry for the guy, because he won't be able to set foot on his home turf again without constant fear of beatdowns and assassinations, seeing how English soccer fans are about the most clinically insane on the whole damn planet.
