V owns.
Shakespeare quotes, alliteration, revenge lust, and a fine-tuned killing sense make him a total badass who can kill anyone he comes by.

I think we are avoiding the important issues: Why does Rorschach keep gummy bears in his hat, and why does my spell checker refuse to let V and particle physics be in the same sentence?

You can't beat V because he's not a person, he's an idea. Even if Rorschach tore his head off and removed his mask, there would just be another guy wearing a Guy Fawke's mask proclaiming to the world that V lives on. That's the beauty of it.
That's more of a winning the battle vs winning the war problem. If you tear off the other guy's head you've won the fight.
I guess I just see it as a kinda lopsided fight because V isn't particularly concerned with dying, he wins no matter what.

And just to be the "B-b-b-but in the book" guy, V's whole kung-fu thing was mostly from the film. In the book he's just a meticulous genius.
No no no!

In the book he did have inhuman strenght and speed! The fingermen at the begining of the comic even say so:

"How did he do it?! I never seen anybody move that fast! He killed Frank..."

Also he kills the people on the train escorting Prothero in seconds, and the two guards in the Father's home before they had time to see it coming. And the guards in the Broadcasting tower.

Also on one of the Doctors authopsies(sp?) she even says to the detective guy "So your right, it isnt a knife wound, It looks like somethings been punched trough the skin with incredible force.

Okay, speed I'll grant. The inspector says the same thing after meeting him. But superhuman strength? He gets shot once and bleeds to death. I got the impression from the book that he just planned everything out that perfectly and used the computer systems to be able to predict what the government would do.

Very true. He actually gets lucky
against Almond, who forgot to load his gun.

But regardless, he was still a skilled fighter, and super-human, so it's lose lose for Rorshach. If the fight hits it's climax then and there, V wins. If it's drawn out, V wins.

P.S. I hate that goddamned film in relation to the book. It's just a gross Americanisation on a graphic novel about British Politics.

While VS threads have always been my guilty pleasure, people voting for a character because they prefer them has always been a pet hate of mine.

It's more interesting when people lay down their strengths and weaknesses on the table, and stack them up against each other.

Rorschach. Because he's way cooler. Which is hard to believe since V is already so cool.
Plus Rorschach is a better fighter.

From wikipedia:

"Although there is nothing physically wrong with him, Surridge theorizes that his mind had been warped by the experimentation. Still, his actions seem to maintain a twisted logic to them. The experiments actually yield some beneficial results: he develops Olympic-level reflexes, increased strength, and incredibly expanded mental capacity (as demonstrated consistently throughout the novel, V is a genius in the fields of explosives, martial arts, philosophy, literature, politics, computer hacking, music and chemistry)."(this is about V from the comic.)

He gets shot 3 times if not wrong. Also he let himself get killed. Finch even says so "But what I dont understand, my back was turned. I didnt even know he was there...and when he alerted me, pulling my gun out, I was so slow...I mean hes like greased lighting, he could have stopped me..he..he could have killed me.

Exactly. V is also a more complete and interesting character, and the general theme of the movie is both moving and inspiring.

Slightly off topic: Playing Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture while blowing up the Building of Parliament made for a truly epic moment in cinematic history. Even more amazing than the scene with the White House in Independence Day.

Can someone tell me the name/author of the V for Vend. book please, as I'd love to read it.
Alan Moore.

The same guy that did The Watchmen. Funny enough he also did these two characters.

Methinks you're looking at the wrong one,

"The compound caused vast cellular anomalies that eventually killed all of the subjects except V, on whom many people believe it granted enhanced strength, reflexes, endurance and pain tolerance, though there is no confirmation of this in the book; V maintains that he is just a man."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_for_Vendetta

Whatever people say about him, V himself constantly denies that he is superhuman.

I took it from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_(comics) in origin.

But the point still stands he still had incredible strengh as showed in one of Doctor Surridge authopsies and incredible speed.

Rorschach would throw boiling chip fat all over V's face and V would be like "Arrgh my face" And Rorschach would be all "You don't get it, I'm not locked in here with you, YOUR locked in here with me."
