Each school had its own unique fad. Sure, most schools across each nation may of shared one particular fad because they where seen as popular at the time. For example, Pokemon cards, Yu-gi-oh, "You Been tango'd! and of course, this:

I found that my school and the schools surrounding the area had similair fads that were created for just our area only, i dont know if they spread across the rest of the country or if it was just indeed, our own thing. A few that were around my school back in the day were:
- If your pocket on the front of your shirt was a perfect square, you got punched.
- If your pockets had a white lining, you got punched.
- If you had a bag with a velcro strap, you had to run up to the person, undo their strap and shout "Your bags a rip off!"

I know most these fads are based on bullying, so im going to move onto object fads, as in, if you didnt have one of these pointless things, you were a loser:

Really, i fucking hated all these fads (Except the shag bands, i liked them lol). What annoys me the most is that they just came out of nowhere and you were pretty much oblidged to follow them unless you didnt want to fit in. Anyone else share similair fads or did your school have its own unique thing?

My school had a thing where people tore off people's shirt pockets. Just 'cos.
There wasn't a pocket left in the school by the end of it.

They also went through a pantsing phase. -_-

All of thsoe fads are pretty stupid. Get ready for the onslaught of "stop being a follower, who cares what other people do" comments by peopel who like to believe they are above all notions of the need to fit in.

Also, I hated pogs when I was in school.

I admit, i joined in a few fads when i needed to (To stop bullying), but most i didnt join. I had a sense of individuality.
Also, I LOVED Pogs!

I never really joined in. The only fad I joined in on was Pokemon cards, but that was just because I liked Pokemon. If I don't like something, I won't join in. Its as simple as that.

OMG I LOVED POGS TOO! And I still have mine! Also that bracelet thing was for stupid people, they were just bracelets, nothing more, nothing less, it's like the old saying goes "It takes an idiot to screw it up for everyone else"

Um the last fad I got into was Yu-Gi Oh, which was a while ago. Honestly, the only fad you'll find in my school is marijuana (if that counts), which I was a part of for a few months. It's overrated IMO.

My school year went through a phase of pencil throwing, literal wars in the classroom...so to stop being a common target by all factions I used to collect up all the broken pencil pieces to be a sorce of ammunition...I made allies that way mwahahaha

[sub] Dear God i was depraved as a child! [/sub]

Pokémon cards, Pogs, and yo-yo's were the main culprits. Specifically this kind of yo-yo

Oh pogs! Ok were too old for this...

Fads come and go, you can either be a teengare about them and rage on like youre too cool for school or accept them as the things your generation did and move on...

I personally never got the "live strong" things...yes its a lance armstrong dealy, but if you need a rubber band to remind you of something you should just hit yourself in the eye with it cos your an idiot. Maybe thats too harsh, wait no it isnt.
Agreed about teh too old part. Thats why we have our user group. If it wasn't for that group I'd leave the site alltogether. My new game on the forum is now to try and predict what will be said. In this case it can have the effect of shutting down stupid commenters who dont want to prove me right.

Oh, and to feel even older, remember these

I also have always hated live strong bracelets and the people who like them. Its funny for people to feel like they give a shit about the world and trying to make it better by wearing a trendy plastic bracelet. How about they take the money they spend on making the bracelets and donate that. The whole process by which charities operate in America makes me sick.
