No, the Panda have the right to exist since they have a place on Earth like many other animals. We shouldn't set example to the next generations after us that we couldn't be bother to safe them. Look what happen to the Dodo and the many more extinct animals (like this giant tortoise, walrus and this tiger), we shouldn't repeat past mistake.

I think they shouldn't be saved. The money and effort spent to keep them going go be used to save a lot of other endangered species that are willing to get it on.

Some species are meant to die out. HUmans aren't the only causes - Nature can be a ***** sometimes as well.

It's going to happen.

We don't have any choice in the matter.

I'm all for just leaving them alone. It's not up to us to play creator or destroyer. If a species can't survive on its own... well, that's nature doing what nature's best at. It'd be a different story if we were actively destroying them, but we're not.

while human are responsible for a lot of species dying this is also part of evolution adn pandas are so highly specialized in their living requirements that most likely still would have gone extinct with human meddeling

One of the reasons they're dying is they don't want to have sex, I think thats a sign of wanting to die out lol

OK. Enough of the emotions, enough of the debate, just enough of all of it. Time to end this thread.

I don't mean to sound cold, cruel or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

IMO we should just leave them be, if they can survive in their natural habitat (assuming that there are still places not overrun by humans) then great, if not then its not worth the effort in making them our house pets. All we should do is prevent people from hunting them and stop destroying their home.

If I may contribute to the comedians that have discussed this topic:

To say we have the power to change evolution would be to assume that we're not part of it. The Panda lives because we think it looks cute. We can't help that. It's not a choice.

Killing of other species is a sideeffect of being a sucessful species. Extinction is just natural.

I'm not a Christian but we do have a duty of care to these beings that cannot understand their predicament. Also people have got to stop calling them a 'fuck up of evolution', evolution is nothing but (useful) mutations, essentially fuck ups of genes that happened to help the creature survive. Wildlife experts aren't necessarily biologists, they may not understand evolution as an alarming amount of people who champion it don't. Sorry for the rant; but I'm more than happy to give a short description of evolution to anyone who wants to know more.

I love the overwhelming opinion of the "let them die" crowd.
"You only care because they're cute, if it were a lizard you would let it die."

Bullshit. Believe it or not some of us, quite possibly most of us who believe in the panda's right to live do so because we are generally disgusted by the way animals are driven to extinction through human ignorance and greed. That's all animals not just the cute ones.

It just so happens that the cute animals make the best mascots.

If we were a huge race of foresteating monstersnails we would destroy it for our needs too. Mans ways of spreading are just faster and more complicated. We are still part of nature.

People can spend their time and money how ever they want to. If you are asking if I, personally, should let the pandas die, as in it was up to me to save them, then yes, cause I won't save them, I would rather go shopping at a mall that was built on top of their native habitat.

No. Even though they're a total fuck-up of evolution, I don't think that we should let them die out if we have the power to stop it.

On the other hand, it'll likely become even harder to keep them alive, the more dependant on us that they become.

/edit
Besides, we're causing their extinction, through the fragmentation of their habitats. Some might say that we owe it to them. Just keep in mind that the fuckers would eat us if they had the chance :p
I feel you are referencing Robot Chicken with the last sentence.

Anyways, Im not an environmentalist in any ways, shape, or form, but I still think if we have the ability, we shouldnt let a species go extinct. I just dont like the idea of, "Here today, gone tomorrow."
It's called death. It's unavoidable.

Also, what master Carlin said.

pandas are carnivores who choose to eat bamboo even though it means they need to eat all they. pandas also don't like sex in order to increase panda sex drive people have made them watch panda porn.... I'm sorry but when we get to making porn for animals to keep them from extinction.... i think they need to die out.

No, if we can help them, that is. But animals go extinct sometimes - nothing lasts forever.
