The Mensa boards.

I mean, it's like a society just filled with genius-caliber intellectuals. No one can withstand their collective might of well-thought-out, worthwhile arguments.

Yeah, this is just a guess. But Mensa forums do exist.

I imagine many men and women in tuxedos and gowns, discussing whatever tickles their fancy, be it things of "supreme insignificance" or discussing common topics like the articles, but everyone is cool with each other and it isn't hard to start to know regulars.
You raise a good point there, actually. The Escapist has some elitism, but mostly the regulars are very accommodating. As far as I can tell, it isn't that hard to gain acceptance here (as long as you are mildly competent with the English language, and not a troll). People seem more than happy to make friends with each other; it's a very friendly place.

That is probably a very good thing, though sometimes I wish people would be a bit more opinionated and get a debate going, rather than being such nice, friendly bastards =)
I think the moderating team might be partially to blame. Some peopleI might be afraid to make statements that come out inflammatory. Or we just don't give a damn about anything and constantly say, "whatever floats your boat" every few posts we read. I blame the people raising us. They make the good kids unable to be rebellious when it matters and they fail to keep the douchebags in line.

I wonder how many times I say something about the mods. Sorry mods.

I've found that this forum has its ups and downs. While we do tend to be on the "smarter" side of the spectrum, we do like to talk down here and there. Its not necessarily a bad thing though, I mean if you've spent any amount of time over in Gamespot/GameFAQs forums, you'd appreciate the fact that we are as civilized as we are here.

There are smarter forums out there though, I'm sure. They are simply...a more tightly knit community. This site, believe it or not, is pretty big.

I've only really been a part of three forums in my life: Newgrounds, 4chan, and The Escapist. Of the three, these are by far the smarter and better forums but I still run into a lot of stupidity here. But I hate all forums, including these ones (I mean no offense, I just dislike forums), and since I haven't visited the other options in the poll I won't vote and skew the results.

I started to cry when I took a moment to think about the enormous amounts of smugness radiating off of each post.

Umm... Physics Forum.
http://www.physicsforums.com/

But out of the ones provided in the list, I'll go with Escapist. How did 4Chan even get on the list?

4Chan? Really guys? I'll admit that some of the sections of 4Chan might be smart, but then you get /b/ and it drags 4Chan's intelligence down to that of a retarded kitten.

If anyone's thinking of saying IGN, well...

Go to page 4. [http://rr.xbox360.ign.com/ReaderReviewIndices/CategoryList.aspx?channel=xbox360&reviewtype=xbox360&object=14235013]

Christ I hate that place.

Anyway, I'm going to say here.

EDIT: It seems they were deleted. Nevermind.
EDIT2: No they weren't.

Wow... and i thought the reviewers were bad

OT: the Escapist, mainly cause it's moderated to keep the bull out

Out of those in the poll? Something Awful, when the users there actually want to be intelligent.

Probably some huge private website for rich people that we don't know about.

Either that or The escapist :D (generally..)

I think we would have to look at literary and science forums to really judge that.

but Out of nerdy forums I would have to say Warhammer-Empire.com is the most intelligent and meaningful forum on the internet. When I was on there was a very social core of members (including me) and a ton of interesting new member with awesome things to say (and the grammer to back it up). We all loved our Empire army and the off topic forum was the place to talk about anything and actually have your opinion heard. The only trolls were intelligent and people really cared about each other.

unlike here, while better then most, a lot of times your opinion will get skipped and the trolls abound while the mods use the hammer to heavily.

I would pick the escapist, but my decision would be very bias. The only other boards I've been on are 4Chan, and I don't understand why it is separate from the "something awful" option.

A friend of mine insists Something Awful is superior to The Escapist, but until I can afford to pay for a forum I'll leave that theory untested.

"Something Awful" is a specific forum, not a general option referring to forums of poor quality.

You can still read the forums without membership, just not reply. I sometimes read the posts when I'm bored.
