I'll guarantee the smartest forum on the web wouldn't be a gaming site, and would most likely be private.

It's a toss-up between this place and Gamespot. I've been on Gamespot for years, but got tired of all the arrogant, opinionated jackasses.

Out of the options given I'm gonna have to say Something Awful.

Yes, they act like retards a lot, but on the whole they're significantly more intelligent than they're usually letting on, especially since they're fairly effective at weeding out the bad apples. Unlike most other forums, they get shit done.

I don't have a negative opinion of this board, but I don't think a videogame board attracts the most intelligent kind of people. Still, everyone's gonna vote The Escapist because they're on it, and as I've shown in <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.168675>another thread more than 80% of the people consider them smarter than average.

I don't know the smartest, but looking at that list makes me realise that I only really come here for ZP.

*sigh*

I'll vote 4chan because I've seen loads of interesting things there and not just "HEY WAT UR FAVRITE GUY FROM XGAME". It's the sort of place where anyone can find something that will interest them. And I mean ANYONE.

No Forum is the smartest, only more restrained than the rest.

And that title goes to the Escapist. because I have only been to 1 other forum, and after a coomparison between the two, my eyes bled.

I've got to say The Escapist is pretty awesome in that regard. It's what attracted me to the forums in the first place, after all.

I don't know that there are any truly smart forums on the internet.
Well, there was this one physics forum my friend was a part of, but maybe I'm only assuming their smart because I don't know anything about physics, so all the conversations took place way over my head.

I haven't been anywhere else and my show results button isn't working so I'll vote escapist. Take one off in your head I was just curious. Anyways I have no problems with the escapist and if somethings off I'll be the first to tell ya!

My word, people actually voted for 4chan?

Not only do ex-chans say that place is full of retards but the name for the worst of them (and they are all bad) is its own play on retard!

(/b/tard for those that didnt know.)

(Which I am sure you all did because I voted for The Escapist because we are a bunch of genii... and it is the only one I am a part of on that list.)

(Genii is the plural of Genius.)

(Which I am sure you all knew because... and so on and so on.)

Oblivionsource.com

We were the best and smartest internet forum I had been to. We had Tech wizzes, History buffs, math lovers, and heck, even people with lots of "street experience"

That list is extremely limited, by the way, and it seems that most of the people on here have only been here or Gamespot/Gamefaqs. There's no contest between those, so obviously the Escapist is getting the vote, either because every other forum they go to is full of trolls and 12-year-olds, or this is quite simply the only forum they've ever been to.

I dare people to visit RPG.net. Most threads there are actual discussions, instead of the standard "Best game YOU have ever played!" or the infuriatingly trying-to-be-clever-but-failing "Yay or nay?" thread.

Also, I'm sure half the people here would get politely flamed for not backing up opinions with fact. Plus, the mods frequently interject into discussions using their patented Red Font Of Doom, warning people to keep it civil. Also, they always make the final post in locked threads, so we know exactly why it was locked.
