Poll: Snipers?

I enjoy sniping, tend to play a reasonably team orientated sniper (and was team sniper in a COD4 tournament because of it), in that I will usually try and weaken regions to help my team, even if I am off lone-wolfing around the map. Can make a big difference in defence or when your guys are attacking if defenders are keeling over or suddenly losing half+ health.

Like mentioned previously, you do kinda have to play the game a bit to get a feel of the sniping weapons, some games lead and some don't so you need to acclimatise to be any good.
Also, taking a few shots from one position then moving off tends to be a lot more enjoyable than just camping one spot; unless you've found the ultimate spot (and you wont be able to stay there forever either!)

I can snipe on some games but not other, Crysis wars is probably the game I'm best at sniping on because the bullet doesn't "teleport" to wherever I am pointing, I like having to work out where I have to aim dependent on my targets movement speed and angle, I like spinning people cars out by blasting there wheels off =D other games I tent to lean more towards assault rifles.

Oh yeah, the huntsman does not make you a better shot, any opposing sniper can kill you while the arrow is in the air, reload and dodge the arrow before it's even close.

Moving on, I snipe only to break up the monotony of being surrounded by a dozen jackasses who are more likely to kill me than the enemy.

I always found it enjoyable in battlefield games, but not in things like mw2 or css, the maps arnt big enough..

I snipe a lot in mw2, it's probably the most I've sniped in any game, I've always enjoyed it though.

I only Snipe in ArmA or Operation Flashpoint. because that takes skill..

Honestly, I love sniping in any game, be it multiplayer or not.

I snipe every now and then. It depends on the map. There's something satisfactory about it.

An infantry soldier kills with 20 sprayed bullets. A sniper kills with that one. perfect. shot.

I love sniping in Mass Effect 2, it's perfect. One time I used adrenaline rush and got 4 headshots in 3 seconds.

Its not a spray-n-pray role - you must be deadly accurate, literally.

Exactly. With an assault rifle, you can quickly correct your mistake. Miss with a sniper rifle and your chance is gone. Most people can't appreciate that.

(And this is coming from a person who prefers assault rifles and shotguns)

You hate snipers... Tough shit... Ina real combat situation you can't rage quit just because there's a sniper...

I used to snipe alot, but now I'm more like this guy:

ah... i'm a bit of a marksman rather than a sniper.

a few well placed shots rather than a single pin point shot.

i'd much rather have a sniper weapon with out a scope or low powered scope rather than the long range x8 zoom of a normal scope.

However, I don't play online, so the only other snipers I meet are story characters who generally give some nice tense moments (E.g The End from MGS3)

I love sniping; in TF2, its just about the only thing I can do with any amount of proficency...
On MW2, however, I never get the chance to, as someone always stops me from getting to a good spot.

Main reason I don't play if you can believe that. My hate for multiplayer in general gets a back seat to people not actually playing the game aka snipers.

In my college, we have a gaming club thing where all the cool people (ahem...) play UT2004 over lunch time, and we always get people coming in who have basically been fed off CoD their entire lives so run straight for the sniper rifle, and then say that it's the game's fault that they're not getting anywhere. That what tends to irritate me most about snipers - elitism.

That and the fact that they think that a good kill is one in which the opponent doesn't fight back at all.

I have no problem with them unless they repeatedly kill me from the same fucking spot, that seriously pissed me off once.

But in all seriousness, I myself don't find too much wrong with a sniper. It is irritating to hop out into a brave new world only to have my exitement quelled by single shot. But at the same time, I know that they were doing their job, which is eliminating a key threat.
However, I do agree that anyone who uses a sniper rifle as a close-range weapon needs to pick up a shotgun and fight like a man.
