On other games like Crysis, Battlefield, Unreal Tournament etc I like to snipe because it's beneficial. I was playing MAG just before and I took out 6-7 people in one position, stopping them from flanking my team and giving them the time to set up some defence at a capture point. In that instance, I was benefiting the team. On a game like COD, I don't even see the point in sniping. It takes no skill and an M16 can do the same job, and can also be used in other circumstances.

Hate them usually. In team fortress I play a lot of scout, so they're pretty much cannon fodder then though. Absolutely hate the bastards in call of duty. Did I mention the hate?

Sniping is what I do on MW2. Every map... that I can remember off the top of my head...
(Hardcore Team Death Match maps... Screw "Rust", or what ever it's called.)
I don't particularly like sniping, it is a shame I am so good at it.
Everyone knows melee weapons are for real men, shotguns come in second, third semi-auto weapons of all sorts, then burst fire weapons, then snypuhs and for the real wusses, fully automatic weapons.

I've always had some of the worst hand-eye coordination on the face of the planet, and all my friends are excellent at sniping in multiplayer FPSes so I have nobody to talk to about the sheer challenge of it.
In MW2 I only snipe on Wasteland and I ussually get snuck up on it is so infuriating to wait five minutes for someone to show up at Point C and then have someone come up and knife you in the back, I ussually don't get pissed when a sniper kills me unless that same sniper kills me multiple times in a row.

I usually snipe in games. I take a stealthy approach. For example, opening level of Halo 3? When you reach the base where Johnson is being held? I wait on the cliff, use a stolen Covenant Carbine to pick off all the Kig-Yar snipers and as many Jiralhanae as I can before I'm notcied, then move in and deal with the first few Unggoy to attack me before returning to my sniping post. Easiest way to finish that part 
Quick-scoping makes snipers a close range class as well as a long range one, in that you're getting rid of the only weakness snipers have; that they SHOULDN'T be effective at close range, ever.MetallicaRulez0 said:

Their useful in certain situations, such as protecting a point from afar and picking off enemies to clear the way. The role is much needed although annoying when you are on the recieving side of the bullet.
I tend to snipe every now and then when I can't get close enough to use an assualt rifle or other gun.

Sniping is just another method of killing in an FPS...if you don't like it, then go cry in a corner and don't play the game anymore. Otherwise, deal with it, learn from it, and try not to make yourself such a welcoming target.
I'll be sure to find siffty and have his head in my sights for a good, long while.
Also...why do I snipe? I prefer to take things slow, and cautiously...this makes me a good infiltrator and scout, not to mention being good at sniping of course. Let the others shoot each other in the face with a shotgun; I'll take the careful route, thank you.
