Poll: Speed knifing in MW2

Modern Warfare was a good game, Modern Warfare 2 took the good things from the first and the shitty things from Halo to create a 'meh' shooter for twitchy couch soldiers. Personally, I've never understood how a quick slash with a knife to any part of the body can instant kill a warrior in uniform, TA-50 gear, body armor, who can take several bullets before being killed.

I'm so glad that I'm old enough to only come to threads like this to see why on earth people are talking about Mech Warrior 2.

If people who are really good at something are kicking your heinie to the point that you are as frustrated as some of you are... its time to find a multiplayer shooter with bots. Or perhaps a different type of game all together.

If you believe something is out of balance don't even inhale air to vocalize or to begin typing a gripe here unless you've already done the proper thing and written to the company that makes your game, followed by a link here to show folks you've earned the right to ***** and complain. Or perhaps a different type of game all together.

Find a different server... or find a game that you can LAN instead, and play with a tight group at someones house for a Friday-Saturday-hungover Sunday game weekend. Or perhaps a different type of game all together.

If you think gun X is better than gun Y and it is because X is programmed differently because in the real world it behaves differently... choose a different gun. I love my FAL rifles. In semi automatic mode with iron sights I can hit cans consistently @ 200 yards. But on full auto? The first shot gets where I want it, the second is about a foot over that, and the rest are all freaking over the place. There might be a reason a UMP is different from other weapons. (And I'll assume you are talking about the HK UMP.... which while I'll never own one (because I'm an anti HK snob and they are wicked expensive) they are s-m-o-o-t-h. Different guns work differently. Find one you like and run with it. If its not working for you, get a different one. Or perhaps a different type of game all together.

Life is too short to get any kinds of bent out of shape over game mechanics of a knife wielding 13 year old. Such has it been and so shall it will be.

I've done it myself too, but I did Marathon, Cold Blooded and Ninja.
Don't need Commando or Lightweight with those, and when people aren't expecting it

You're complaining about a legitimate set of perks that are in the game? You obviously don't know why people play that game: To make the other team rage.

Find a counter and deal with it, if it's in the game, you can use it.

The Commando lunge is ridiculous, but if you don't kill them while they're running up to get close enough to do it, than it's your fault. They're running straight at you in a game where 2-3 bullets from most guns will drop someone. You deserve to get knifed if they come from right in front of you and you don't put them out of their misery.

Speed knifers are a mild annoyance. You know what's slightly more annoying than people that use speed knifing? People that quick scope with the Intervention. You know what's slightly more annoying than that? Grenade launcher attachment, 2x Thumpers and Scavenger. You know what's more annoying than all three of the above combined? The fifteen millionth complaint thread about how broken Modern Warfare 2 is. If you dislike it that much, fine, just don't play the bloody thing. If you like the game too much to stop playing it over these issues, than that's fine too. Just stop cluttering up the place with all these frigging threads about how much you dislike something in a game that you're going to keep playing anyways.

If you don't like Marathon, Sleight of Hand Pro, Scavenger, One Man Army, Stopping Power, Lightweight, Cold Blooded, Commando, Killstreaks, Akimbo shotguns and G18s, Quick Scoping, Heartbeat Sensors or tactical knives, and you would much prefer to play without these things, than I've got one little bit of advice that may help you out:
YOU'RE PLAYING THE WRONG FUCKING GAME.
The perks, the quick scoping, the ridiculous lunging and killstreaks are all part of the game known as Modern Warfare 2. They're part of the experience, and if you don't like that, than go and play something else.

Bu- but if I don't play it, I might have fun playing other new and interesting games that don't make me want to slam my head against my wall! We can't have that now can we?

I can't imagine the amount of people that would quit if the CoD series went back to its roots I highlighted the part that's wrong. Since when are those 4-5 classes the only way to win? The F2000 can kill the same as the Scar. The Vector can kill the same as the UMP45. The reason people don't use them is they're not the "be all end all" weapons of their class. Why be good at something when you can take the easy way out? Why compensate for recoil when you can shoot straight all the time?

People have dug into the games code to see the weapons coded damage and see what they should use, and that's sad.

People need to stop ruining games by spamming the overpowered stuff. They use it because they know it's a cheap, easy way to get things done.

So they should use the underpowered or useless stuff instead? How does that make games any funner?

The other solution is to buff the useless weapons so they can be viable for use.

There's nothing wrong with the witch build, it's like the spy in TF2, devastating against players who are unaware but easily shot down by anyone paying attention. People who complain about the witch have no environmental awareness, and deserve all the rage the witch brings them. If you actually play smart you can ruin any witch's day.

Double shotguns, on the other hand, are bullshit.

I heard someone complaining about this saying they are noobs and its lame but if you get knifed in the face and couldn't shoot the shit out of them before they hit you then you deserve a knifing.

Except that marathon and lightweight, even separately, take advantage of the games lag. Ever get knifed by one and watch the killcam? You know, that killcam where you fired 15 bullets but it only showed you shooting 1 or 2? Maybe none at all?

It exploits the games lag and it's pathetic.

That's why I hate it so much, the lag caused by the bad matchmaking, makes them dam near impossible to kill.

Sell it. Buy BF:BC2. Have a ton 'o fun.
In BF:BC2 the melee is pointless unless they havn't noticed you.
But yes it is annoying. But you know what I did before selling MW2?
I became a knifer hunter. As said it's funny to see the knifers rage.

It has its uses. I use Marathon, Cold blooded, Ninja, all pro versions. It's great for maps like Favela and Overgrown.

When there's an overabundance of them, I just switch to a shotgun-centric class and blast them just outside of their melee radius. Then they have the nerve to rage at me for it.

Yes, that's really worse than knifers... AA-12 glitch abuse combined with insane speed, it's really vicious this one.

Although really, I would choose Ninja Pro or Steady Aim over Commando. But anyway, very nasty.

Alot of people jsut say they use a shotgun to stop them, but the kicker is you shouldnt have to! It doesnt matter if I play hardcore and pick my shots, take loads of cover, and move at a very cautious pace, A game is broken when a player with all the skill in the world is killed without a bit of hastle. When my assault rifle is useless, and the supposed situational tactical weapons become primarys in all maps, whats the point. Noobtubers, RPG junkies, speed knifing, akimbo whores, ugh just talking about the game and how unfun its become makes me so pissed

Wow you're forced to adapt your playstyle to cope with what the enemy is doing. Now THAT is a POOR game mechanic, I think we can all agree. Not.

The point is, when someone else is running at 20 miles per hour, teleporting 10 yards to you for a one hit kill, your forced to adapt to a cheaper mechanic, its a vicious cycle, and while you do make a good point of adapting, did I mention someone is running around at 20 miles per hour teleporting 10 yards to kill you in one hit! I bought the game for a balanced, semi-realistic shooter, I got a wildly unbalenced, bullshit, annoying as all hell, worse than Halo in terms of realism shooter. When no fun is to be had, and basic flaws the game designers let the players have a field day with are the cause, the developers created a failed product
