Yep, it's like looking in a cupboard at a party, you turn around, and everyone left. Surreal, to say the least.

I usually do by accident, or by just showing up late to the party with a valid discussion point after the fights all have broken out.

Yeah. Happens sometimes. I mean, it's much easier to insult people on the net than in real life. When you can take your time and write something that upsets people the more they think about what you write. :D

Typically the killer of threads is when you summarize the sentiments of many users so satisfactorily that continuation of the topic is no longer necessary, as I am known for doing occasionally.

I have probably killed 40 threads in this manner.

Well, aren't you the cool guy?

Also, that's assuming that posters actually read the other posts (they don't).

I'm also talking about when a thread abruptly dies, for no clear reason.

It happens to me on occasion, never with posts that I consider especially offensive or awe inspiring though.

It happens to me ALL the time. Really, it's a terrible feeling, to be the last person to say something before a long, awkward silence.

Yeah. Happens all the time with me. I post, then one or two more come because I ninja'd them. Then nothing until the next day. Then it's a bustling metropolis of a thread or so long gone, nothing could possibly necro it.

In fact, I just did it now.

*Waits and sees*

I was wrong.

Holy hell. Serena=Lurtz. No wonder that thread died. I find that basically impossible to top due to pure awesome and randomness.

It has happend to me once on a thread with like 20 pages so I think everyone just discussed what had to be discussed.
