Goddamn this game was fun. I used to just play random battles against the CPU all the time on this game.

Also you can go into first person view in this game? I never knew that.

I'm just sad they redid the Geonosis map. I loved the first game's version.

Also, they never did make a well balanced Hoth map. :(
Unbalanced in whose favour? I loved the Hoth map, no matter what side I was on, especially the tenseness.

Well, Battlefront 2 isn't bad, but I found it a bit boring at times, especially the space battles. They're highly monotonous. Fly into capital ship, blow up shit, blow up stuff outside capital ship, win. The ground battles were better, but still, I think Battlefront 1 is more entertaining as a whole than #2.

Don't get me wrong, Jedi battles are cool and #2 had a lot of awesome features and levels, but on the whole, #1 was better, in my opinion.

On an unrelated note:

Greek characters? Okay, let me try another one.

What? Will I ever get just a regular captcha? -_-

Battlefront games are freaking awesome but in the day of ps2 where online was a rarity it had its limits. I have t say that battlefront one had a more balanced play style then 2 but both were good. Kotor is still the best star wars game in my opinion(played it 2 months ago and still good) but action wise nothing has ever been as good as battle front wgich is still fun to play. As much as i'm excited about The Old Republic, once its out you can only believe tat battlefront 3 will be on its way and I van only hope that they get dice to make it.

I most definitely agree with you on most of your points, though I would also like to give a nod to Republic Commando for another great Star Wars game. Tight gameplay coupled with a solid plot and characters that I really got attached to equals WIN in my book. :)

I still love some Jedi Outcast. Incredibly brilliant action game, strange and surprisingly entertaining multiplayer.

Battlefront 2 is just damn near perfect though. The only feature that could be included is merging planet battles with space battles by allowing you to fly off of a planet and seamlessly enter space combat at will. Then I would have to quit my job and stop going to school.

This is a pretty great game. I was never able to get past the Jedi Temple level in campaign, but Galactic Conquest and multiplayer was so much fun I never cared. That's a good sign.

As a side note, I feel the need to mention that Pandemic released not only Battlefront II in 2005, but also the first Mercenaries and Destroy All Humans!, both of which are comparably amazing. Apparently that was the year of the gasmask, then.
Was Destroy All Humans 2 any good? It won't run on my Xbox for some reason.
But the demo for the first game was excellent, and I can't find the full bloody thing anywhere!

DAH!2 is definitely worth getting, though I prefer the first one's Fifties setting. And the webternetz is the place to find old games.

I actually can't stand Polis Massa, though I can understand why having a double-ended 'saber there would be all kinds of amazing.

Me and my friends spent a few months with that as the only multiplayer game we played, it is fun though the campaign could get annoying from time to time, thats mostly cause i was lost or messing around somewhere else (aka trying to nick a tank).

Ever since my game disk for the xbox broke and I couldn't find a replacement I have refused to acknowledge it exists in order to keep me from breaking down and sobbing from my loss, so I sit and wait for the third, oh please let there be a third

On that note, I gotta say that a favourite of mine was Jedi Knight 2: jedi outcast. Great story, varied gameplay, awesome combat and puzzling, terrific taste of the expanded universe.
I second this, that game is challenging, has great narrative and fits with regular canon really easily. Not only that though, but you can chose if you want to use lightsabres or guns or forcepowers at any given time.

Loved the game, not least cos of the campaign and how you were playing the same regiment of clonetroopers/stormtroopers throughout the events of the films.

Campaign ends kinda abruptly at hoth though, and been reading here and there the reason for that is because the next fight the 501st are involved in is at endor and none of them survive that... Which is a rather tragic way for the 501st to go after all they been through :(

I myself am an outspoken critic of Battlefront II. In my opinion, the game had mediocre maps, didn't add much to its predecessor, and dropped some stuff from Battlefront 1 that I, at least, sorely missed (for example, most aircraft were removed from BF2's land maps).

Also, the weapons were just...boring to use. Each faction's weapons were nearly identical, excepting the special units I didn't really like very much, and none of the weapons actually felt powerful. For instance, the basic blaster rifle's painfully low rate-of-fire, lack of recoil, and slow projectile speed combined to make it about as satisfying to fire as a water gun.

I guess my complaints are a little nit-picky, but what can I say? They prevent me from enjoying the game as much as its predecessor.
