Star Trek, by the absolute slightest of margins. I suppose I've just spent more time with Star Trek than I have with Star Wars, that and the fact that I thought ST: TNG was such a fantastic series.

Trek > Wars.

Ive always seen Wars as the kindergarten version of sci fi. Trek would be more educated/refined.

On the whole Ive seen the trek franchise to be much much more entertaining... or it was until Abrahms got ahold of the series and basically tried to shoehorn it into a starwars like set of tropes.

Apparently I am not the only one who thinks so.

I made this thread like 3 years ago. Search bar!!!!!!!!!

Star Trek for shows and movies and Star Wars for video games. STO is such a piece of shit that I almost got sick to my stomac. Although the force unleashed 2 is really bad as well...

Best of Both Worlds, The Inner Light, and whichever one has the four lights are three Star Trek TNG episodes that equal the original trilogy of Star Wars. Just those three, and then you have the rest of that series and all the others, not including Enterprise.

I loved, loved, loved Star Wars, but right now I gotta say Star Trek.

The classic SW trilogy were almost perfect movies for me, but Lucas ruined that with the new prequels.

In the other hand, I've been watching all Star Trek Next Generation episodes for the first time and having an amazing time with all the great sci-fi stories.

So, while I think SW has a great universe and the original movies have great characters and stories and ST has lower quality movies, on a whole Star Trek is a much better franchise with a better quality/quantity ratio.

I like them both though XD

Star Wars but I guess people draw comparisons between the two due to their extremely similar names... that's about where the similarities end.
Well, and the part where they both have futuristic tech and spaceships flying around blowing eachother up and such.
That's implied by the "Star" part of their names. Star Wars was set "a long time ago...", not very futuristic now is it?
Them being implied by the name doesn't change the fact that they similar on those points. And your second point doesn't make any sense. "Futuristic" by definition can apply to things from any timeframe, as it's describing appearance, not place in a time line. As in "has the look of something from the future", not "from the future". Actual timeline is irrelevant, technological appearance relative to our own stuff is what matters.
