Nothing happened regardless of how close I was to the screen.

Nothing happens in any of the pics.

Wonder what might cause that?

EDIT=the flashing dots and swirling circles jsut started working.

If you close one of your eyes, there'll be a blind spot where your optic nerve connects to your eye. It's really hard to see though, because your brain fills in the gap with something that makes sense to be there.

I know of the fading, i do that ocasionally for fun, but do you know you can use your fingers as glasses?
You simply squish four fingertips together, forming a small hole that you can look through and bend light with
I don't know if you people that can see clearly at long range can use that

Yeah, it's not exactly pleasant. I tried tiling that as my rig wallpaper once. Never again.

Bloody Mary: eventually your eyes distort the mirror image to make 'Bloody Mary'. it works better in low-light conditions.

Please, that's old news. I bet you've only just found out what a calculator is, old man. ;)

I spent ages on a website for optical illusions a few years back. They're pretty fun, I'll see if I can find some of the good ones I remember.

Yeah, it's a cool optical illusion.

Don't know if it's been said already, but the image disappears because of an effect called... something-or-another. It does what it does because the brain is good at ignoring constant information, so after a while the brain simply 'decides' to forget the image is there.

You need a focal point. Somewhere where your eyes can focus. It's like looking at a white piece of paper - you look all over it. If you draw a dot in it, your eyes will try to focus on that dot.

That's how the example at wiki works very well.

Eh, it doesn't work so well when you control one eye at a time. It kept reappearing.
