The clones seemed more competent than stormtroopers, but they also tended to be fighting non-plot-critical opponents. We usually only see stormtroopers in combat when they're fighting the main characters.

Despite them being the same people (Teehee, even more so as they're all the same!) underneath the armour the Stormtroopers seem better looking than the Clone Troopers, less franchise-esque.

Arent they the same army?

Edit: The reason they use diferent armour in the II,III and the IV,V,VI is that Mr.Lucas didnt want to give away that plot twist in II right away.(cause he thinks we are idiots and is saga is some kind of overcomplicated story.(sorry to all SW fans))

Edit2:After some thinking over this maybe the Clone Troopers cause the StormTroopers seem to use paper for body armour considering their super army gets butchered by teddy bears armed with rocks and pointy sticks...

There they same, the storm troopers are just mostly made up of the 501st division after the order to kill all the jedi went down. So I say it would come down to a tie.

yeah, i was thinking the same thing. didn't the clone troopers become the storm troopers?
No, in the later stories, storm troopers are actual enlisted personel, while clones are, well, clones bred for military work.

These stories are typically post-rebellion. The Empire Developed a Forced Indoctrination Technique that allowed them to force people into the Stormtrooper ranks. For the longest time, however, Stormtroopers were indeed clones.

Both got nothing on Waffen SS (which I think was the inspiration for Storm troopers)
I think laser rifles and spaceships means they got a leg up on the SS. Although the SS were real, and evil, and responsible for a lot of death and suffering... Okay never mind...

Your seriously going to compare Nazis with conventional rifles and tanks to space faring warriors wearing power armor and posses planet destroying superweapons. Thats what your going with.

As said the Stormtrooper armies stopped being made up of just Jango Fett clones and started using clones of other gene samples as well as enlistment for recruitment, which probably means that in a comparison of man to man the clone troopers probably have the upper hand, as all they are all trained and formed into trusted combat teams from birth unlike the later Stormtroopers.

However since we are comparing whole armies i would have to say the Stormtroopers would have the upper hand, since the majority of their equipment, especially their mechanised units, is superior to that used by the clones which would probably give them the upper hand in a large scale battle.

On top of the fact, all Clone Troopers used Jango fett's genetics, later in the fiction, they started using other templates for Storm Troopers, to prevent another Kamino incident when they rebelled with their own Jango Army, and those Clones they had were like the ARC's(Advance Recon Commando's) pure knuckle dragging, bad tempered, JANGO FETT.

Clone Troopers, by a LONG SHOT. I mean even the regular units started picking up Mando'a.

Storm Troopers only had one unit that was pure Jango after the events of Episode Three, the 501st.
Dude, isn't that a mission from battlefront 2? (i.e. not cannon)

Wrong! Clones only make up a small part of the imperial army after kimino rebelled! BOW BEFORE MY SUPERIOR STAR WARS KNOWLEDGE! And clone troopers just have a more... refined feel to them, even in think like the helmet, and the weapons.
