Just wondering, which characters people believe are the most devestating to play against, or to play with. Not the best to win with, so no dan for the reason of ashaming the looser. Im going with the english names, but have put a little helper with the names. I personally would have to choose between Sagat or Ryu. This is SF4 BTW FOLKS

Surprised Ken isn't on the list.

I went with Sagat since in SF IV he seems to be the most consistantly featured in shut out wins and his priority is stupid.

Though honestly it does depend on which SF game your talking about, their relative power depends on that. For example in some versions Akuma is so (intentionally) unbalanced it's not even funny, yet in SF IV he's more or less just another Shoto in Multiplayer.

I'll go for Balrog. I'm surprised Blanka and Guile aren't on the list. They're the most annoyingly boring characters to deal with in SF4 since they have very few moves and everyone plays them the same way (back off and spin attack with Blanka, Don't move and Sonic Boom into Flash Kick with Guile). No one will ever convince me that Blanka and Guile aren't boring to play with/against in SF4.

Sagat has the same move inputs as Ryu/Ken so you know exactly what he's going to do and when, he's a shoto-clone.

Balrog is the character I had the most trouble with since he has really fast jabs.

I will go with Sagat in IV, since he is such a powerhouse that many less experienced players can beat the crap out of more experienced players because of the damage, range and priority of even his most basic moves.

But playing against experienced players can be a problem with any character they choose. I personally hate to fight a good Vega since he is so hard to touch...

Vega. No question for me, Vega.

It's been a while since I've played, but back when Street Fighter 2 was the hottest thing around, I was unstoppable as Vega. I mean, he has a cool mask and claws! Right there that makes him cooler than 90% of the rest of the cast.

More votes for Vega hooray, thought I was gonna be the only one =)

But yes a well played Claw is frustrating or if your the Vega - Blanka is a bugger.

What?! NO DAN!? FAIL!!!!!!
jk, I'm going to go with sagat, because it really depends on what character YOU choose.
Zangief is good against Sakura,
Blanka is good against zangief,
ect...

Ken Sagat and Guile cause me to say things that were... very banable if I were to repeat them here. Ken users spam the fire punch, Sagat users spam tiger shots in the corner, Guile sits and sonic booms until you go into his freakin nano second charged flash kick...

I have yet to see a GOOD Vega user, but I have seen videos of Vega past that when they do show their colors online I will most likely crap my pants.

Ken isn't devastating. He's fucking cheap, which is why almost everybody plays him.

I'm gonna have to go with Ryu, because I have yet to find a way around his defenses if the player is good enough. It's a nice challenge. I don't play with him though; a little too basic for my tastes.

I'd understand if you complained about Sagat but really... Ken is no cheaper than Ryu and 9 times out of 10 the folks playing as Ken are some of the most predictable players you'll ever find. Ken's fireballs have long recovery time, his super and ultra has crap range and his light and medium punch shoryukens trade with other moves. In fact, the fact that Ken players are so abundant means he's much easier to play against than, say, Rufus whom I've never seen in a ranked match.

Now Sagat is undoubtedly the best character in the game (both SSF2T, SF4 and he's also very good in the versus games). Two types of fireballs, speedy movement around the arena, lots of range with normals and the fact that you can combo into his ultra from just about anything. Only his air game kind of sucks but he doesn't really need to go there.

How the hell is he NOT cheaper than Ryu? The range of the flame on his dragon punch is ridiculous! His ex-tornado kick has more range and ex-fireballs are just as fast. Sure they're predictable, but that doesn't make them any less annoying than fireball-spamming Sagats when they know how to time their executions. The fact that I can hardly win against good Ryu's is a testament to those players' skills. All they have to rely on is good timing and stupid mistakes.

That's the thing: against shotos, you don't jump and you don't for a meaty against one. Not jumping isn't really that big of a problem as it might first seem since every character has a move that goes through fireballs (or over/under them).

Ken has shitty recovery time for his moves. With him, if you whiff against someone who knows their salt, it's a trip to Pain Town.

Yeah, even with my current mainer (cammy) there's no room for mistakes with them. But that's pretty much with anyone good.

I don't care what anyone says, Dan is kick ass! That is in no way meant to be a joke. I always dominate with Dan regardless of the situation. It has nothing to so with people not expecting much out of him because my friends still get their ass handed to them by Dan, and they know what I am capable of.

Maybe its just me.

I wouldn't say that there's any that are particularly devastating. They all have their respective strengths and weaknesses, and as long as you know how to exploit them (or defend them), you're just golden, and it comes down to your actual knowledge of the character and reflexes/judgement.

And framecounting. Too bad I can't do that with CG models.

Bah.
