I have nothing against subbed movies, I'll watch them but I'd rather watch a movie in English because then I can focus that bit more on what's actually happening.

If you speak or understand the language then I say Nay. If you don't then yes. I watch most of the English speaking movies without subtitles (keep in mind that english is not my first language). Same goes for Portuguese and French (which I am trying to learn).

Since some people like subtitles movies, go watch 9 Reinas (Nine Queens).

I refuse to watch films if they're not in the original language because dubbing is so terrible, but subtitles are fine.

After watching Dead Snow I might watch others.

I can't believe we didn't notice the "ENGLISH SUBTITLES" sticker on the front of the box when we rented it.

I trained myself to read subs and watch the movie/show at the same time when I was dating my wife and she introduced me to anime (which thankfully I now enjoy as well). It's also mandatory with Kurosawa films.

i recently watched Dod Snow (Dead Snow) a Norwegian (i think) zombie horror comedy that beats the snot out of say Zombieland (which i quite enjoyed).
Really? I thought Dead Snow was okay, saved by some funny stuff towards the end.

As to your general question, anyone who won't watch a subtitled film is either lazy or intentionally ignorant.

I love subtitled films, cos if they make it onto DVD in a shop here they're usually excellent. :) I don't mind having to read and listen at the same time. Dubbed foreign films tend to irk me much more, cos the quality of the voice acting is usually fairly abysmal.

I loved Pan's Labyrinth, and Inglourious Basterds was almost a short story.

I think it depends if you're the kind of person who goes to a film to be wrapped up in a story, or if you go to the cinema to see some cool explosions.
