My IQ varies in every test I do, but its usually somewhere around 130. I swear sometimes, but not in every sentence. Imo, I'm relatively intelligent.

My theory is, that intelligent people swear pretty much as dumb people, but people I think are dumb swear in a limited way. Just saying a random swear word, sometimes not knowing what it means. On the other hand, I see more creative use of swear words from people who atleast seem more intelligent. Or then I just judge people the way the swear.

Swearing has nothing to do with intelligence. In my opinion, a swear is the same as any word, and it gets across an emotion that's more difficult to express without them.

an IQ test doesn't come close to measuring your intelligence. i got 137 in the last one i did but i'm really not that bright.

seriously though, there is a definite correlation between intelligence and swearing. the more you swear the more intelligent you are. that's scientific fact. there's no real evidence for it, but it is scientific fact.

Intellegent people swear, but they actually know how to use them correctly.

Last time I took a test I scored 152, but that was a year and a half ago. I need to take a new one.

Swearing is awesome.
And my IQ according to some internet test I did is 132. Those aren't accurate whatsoever, but I took a free Mensa International test just for the heck of it and they told me I have a decent chance at joining (IQ > 130 required to join here in Germany).
The real test is like 50 bucks to participate but when I get a decent job I think I'll give it a shot. Just for the hell of bragging about it.

This thread is slightly ironic; most people didn't vote for the highest amount of IQ in the poll, which leads me to think that people smart enough to not do that on purpose are in fact in that range anyway.

There isn't a real correlation between swearing and IQ, if you ask me. The only change is probably that brighter folks have probably thought out the topic of swearing better and have good reasons why they do or do not swear. incidentally, go back 1 page and read Baby Tea's post; that's exactly what I'm talking about.

Ok...what do I type in to find my IQ?

I tried using "run" in the Windows toolbar to look at my specs, but I cannot find IQ.

I think that the more creative the swear, the more intelligent the person. A simple '************' won't do it for me, but if someone bangs their toe and comes out with a 7 minute swear-rant involving phrases like 'sperm donut' and 'cock smuggler' then they certainly appeal to me. Also IQ measures logical intelligence as opposed to creative intelligence.
I did that... I was chastised heavily, and then it turned out I'd broken four of my toes. :D
I did the same thing on a phone table. Cue 5 minutes of just barely not being able to bit back comments like Fuck you you goddamn wooden cock slot!

I fucking swear all the god damn time, and I'm as brilliant as motherfucking Einstein. Bitches.

I like where this thread is going.

I dont think theres any link, it can just seem that way when someone who isnt overly intelligent has a small vocabulary.

I love the way the video I posted (almost) contradicts my own statement.
F*cking Brilliant!!!

I work in kitchens, it kindof comes with the territory. I'm a smart, eloquent guy, but I tend to swear alot because it gets the point across in a quick way.

i swear profusely on a daily basis and in my opinion it has nothing to do with how smart someone is (or could potentially be)

Oh, a little fun fact I heard somewhere... there is a very very slight curve in intelligence vs how religious you are, or so I heard...
It's actually pretty major, at least in statistic terms.

Anyway, I've never trusted IQ as a measure of intelligence. I would like to consider myself as a man of above-average intelligence and I do swear quite a bit.

Do you know what this reminds me of? In an episode of Numb3rs, Charlie tells Don about the ice cream-rape correlation. As the sales of ice cream goes up, so do the number of rapes. The key is both take place during summer.

I dont see a correlation for logical and creative intelligence. I think i have an above average intelligence and i would be lying if i say that i swear just a bit. However i dont use it as a walking cane in my conversations like many people i know and usually those same people have trouble expressing themselves.

My swearing has gotten to the point where I don't even notice when I drop curses to complete strangers, just trying to have casual conversation.

It's pretty bad.

Yeah... I don't really think it does... with algebra, I can do it in my head faster then most people in my class could do it on a calculator, but I can barely read and I have to read it over and over again to really comprehend what it is...
