I feel that the "powers at be" have made it into a real problem. im yet to see someone with the swine flu, yet alone hear about someone with it that has died of it (i mean from it and not an underlying health problem).

it?s all about the big companies that have lost money and want us to buy into the whole scam, I?m saying that it?s not a problem. I?m just saying it?s no were near a global problem.

It could have been a serious problem and governments took the appropriate responses. Media blew it out of proportions, preferring to sell papers and woo viewers with predictions of a biological apocalypse.

However, thanks to proper informing, preparedness, anti-pandemic procedures and a bit of good luck it will stay as a flu-wave (albeit slightly stronger version of one) that is not deadly or particularly dangerous to your average person, as long as they realize to monitor their own condition and rest and drink enough.

So far at least; the possible future evolution of this particular virus is unpredictable as it goes through generations so quickly and spreads quite rapidly.

Didn't vote as not a single one of those three options within the poll representd my stance.

I don't think the government 'Made it up' but I do know the over hype is fucking retarded. More people have been killed by the regular flu, and even the regular flu SHOT. It's just ridiculous how A. American Media can use anything to scare it's audience for views, and B. How gullible said audience is.
The swine flu is no more dangerous than the normal flu.
-_-
Get the fuck over it.

It is pandemic. That's something to worry about if it becomes more potent.
Then what is the regular strain of influenza, hyperpandemic? Omnipandemic since pretty much everybody catches it in their lifetime? World-endingly ChuckNorrisPandemic? There are more deaths from the regular flu, they just go unreported. The same tactic is used in war reporting, people were convinced Vietnam had the biggest death toll ever, because every day the news would report the number of casualties, whereas in WW2 they didn't do that. All early deaths are horrible but even more so when exploited for political gain or fearmongering.

One death is a tragedy; one million is a statistic.

There are many different strains of flu. There's no one such flu as 'regular' flu. Most influenzas don't reach pandemic status.

No, it's not a huge problem. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be a false story.

I don't think the big threat was about how fatal it would be, more about how expensive it would be...that has to be alot of money dished out for treatment and innoculation.

The only good that came out of it was a few school closings, and the worst that came out of it was like 20 deaths. A life (or 20) isn't to be taken lightly, but they made up such a huge deal about a global pandemic that would kill us all, it's a bit silly to see people panic over something that can be cured by two days in bed and a bowl of chicken soup.
It actually put me out of it for nearly 2 weeks. But I guess it effects people of different health differently.
But the chicken soup helped, right?
Oh yes, immensely. And thats why people are overreacting @.@
Ah. Good. I'm glad you're happy.

And no, I don't care about the flu, bovine, avian or otherwise.
Well thats an actual discussion (one that isn't directly geared to swine flu, I might add) and this thread only poses a question.

I'm not going to anwer the poll, because the Govt. is not trying to take our guns away, but Swin flu can suck it. Im not afraid of it.
Again....please people, start reading the whole thread. Either answer is only taken to either far extreme for comical effect. (and the gov. is trying to take our guns!)

But, if you need me to slap you across the face with the simplified version, here it is:

Option A: YES

Option B: NO

Option C: no explanation, only that I shouldnt have added it to the poll because too damn many people have chosen it!

I feel that its a problem but not a giant one that there saying. First off your poll is biased as hell and you really need to put some effort into it.

Anyway, i find it a problem since catching the flu is never all that fun, but i really dought its going to kill me unless im already dieing from a pre excisting condition that i don't have.
Just read the whole damn thread before posting your opinion. I can't believe that the poll went right over so many people's heads.

And grow a sense of humor too, you'll find the world a nicer place with one.

I just contracted it yesterday.. and other then a bitching head ache, fever, non stop snot, and a come and go sore throat, it's not too bad.

Just enough to make you bed ridden for a day or so.

I still have it so if you have anything useful to combat lemme know. I know water and rest but if there's some vitamins or fruit/vegetables that I HAVE to have just lemme know.

Thanks

*coughs blood* O_O
I trust you've already read the above post about the chicken soup? Other than that just take ibuprofen to keep your fever down, keep a loaded gun at your bed side, and drink plenty of juices.

Take care now honey child!

You fool! The governemtn is obviously controling your thoughts!

(mutters something about the dolphins)

But really, don't let that stop you form voting what you want to. The answers are really just yes, and no. The extra in the options is just for comedic effect.

Neither of the choices, the Heini flu as I call it, since the Hindus were offended that Americans referred to it as the swine flu, we have to now label it as the H1N1 virus, or be labeled as racists. The Swine flu, sorry, H1N1 virus, is a lesser form of the flu; LESSER. What is going on as of now is a little phrase known as FEAR MONGERING. Or Fear Tactics, whichever you prefer.

Just a short thread/question. Based on what you know, do you think that swine flu is really something to be worried about? I've heard from a couple of people that it isn't very different that the better-known flu. I've had swine flu, and while it wasn't "fun" it wasn't really all that bad. I just think it propaganda, and is meant to scare people. I think it's just a scam like global-warming, and is meant to be profited from.

So what do you, the escapists, have to say about it?
Of course its something to be worried about, if you have any respiratory problems/immune deficiencies. But that is just like any other disease/sickness. If you have asthma and get the swine flu, its going to hit you very hard. The chances of death are increased dramatically. Don't be so naive as to call it a "scam" or something. It exists. It has killed.
I don't want to sound cold, but it hasn't killed THAT many...

And I do have pretty bad asthma, so it put me up for about 2 weeks. So I'm not ocntesting it's very existence, I'm just saying it nothing to worry too much about. And it can be profited from, and thats why people will use it to scare you.

It's overly hyped. People hear the word 'pandemic' and panic because they don't understand the true meaning. Sure, you should take precautions- wash your hands, sneeze into your elbow, etc.- but those are things you should be doing all the time to keep healthy.

It's called overexaggeration for comedic affect, like what the media is doing with swine flu but for ratings.
Tank you!

This guy gets it! Honestly, I'm amazed at how many heads that joke has flown over...

I did read the post you dumbass, I guess I can't really prove it without you calling bullshit but you dont know either so it will be a little question nagging at the back of your head for the rest of you life.

So don't insult me just because I posted my opinion. And I have a sence of humor, probably one better than yours since you fliped on me.

And if you didnt notice i posted more than saying your poll is shit, so why dont you read that now.
