Oh dear lord.. It's just like the regular fucking flu. Sit down, have a glass of hot tea with honey in it, watch some cartoons, and you'll be fine...

To be honest I thought the Swine Flu was old news, and yet people are still crapping their pants about it.

Also, you're poll is ridiculous.. It goes from one extreme to the other. From pathogenically paranoid, to conspiracy theorist.

I think you all know where I stand on this subject...

It should have been just yes or no all that other stuff is stupid.

I'd say no. It's just another flu outbreak. My college and other colleges have been on high alert though. Since we live in dorms, flus spread quickly, thats the only reason they worry.

Cmon guys...grow a sense of humor, yes the answers to the poll are just either extreme, and it's there for comical effect. Try not to be so sensetive to it.

Although I am at this point regreting adding the third option to the poll. Last I checked it was actually leading in votes.

The only problem I see is young children and old people getting it and getting really sick, but since I don't know many of either, I don't care.

Old people over 50 might not be affected due to a similar flu out back then

Swine Flu is just like the regular flu for the moment, but they fear it can evolve into a more potent and deadly virus if it mixes and evolves with another virus. The speed of the spread is why the WHO (World Health Organisation) listed it as a pandemic.

It is pandemic. That's something to worry about if it becomes more potent.

Then what is the regular strain of influenza, hyperpandemic? Omnipandemic since pretty much everybody catches it in their lifetime? World-endingly ChuckNorrisPandemic? There are more deaths from the regular flu, they just go unreported. The same tactic is used in war reporting, people were convinced Vietnam had the biggest death toll ever, because every day the news would report the number of casualties, whereas in WW2 they didn't do that. All early deaths are horrible but even more so when exploited for political gain or fearmongering.

There are many different strains of flu. There's no one such flu as 'regular' flu. Most influenzas don't reach pandemic status.

The difference with this single strand is that it has gone world wide over a matter of a couple of months. Also as I've said before this isnt the first time that the world has seen this strand of N1H1. It did major damage not forgotten by history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_flu They are worried that the strand is going to mutate while it is being passed from person to person. THAT is the fear, not what is going around right now, not if in its form now it hits but if it changes to a more harmful version.

The only good that came out of it was a few school closings, and the worst that came out of it was like 20 deaths. A life (or 20) isn't to be taken lightly, but they made up such a huge deal about a global pandemic that would kill us all, it's a bit silly to see people panic over something that can be cured by two days in bed and a bowl of chicken soup.

It actually put me out of it for nearly 2 weeks. But I guess it effects people of different health differently.

But the chicken soup helped, right?
