Just wondering what other members of the escapist think of tatoos, I personally am thinking of getting a Japanese styled tatoo, if you already have one/planning on getting one please post what kind of tatoo your planning on getting :)

Edit: queen michael pointed out typo's =D

First of all, it's "tattoos", not "tatoo's". Secondly, I find them amazingly cool. The only thing that bothers me is when people get a Chinese sign that means, say, "life" because I get the feeling that they would just find it stupid had it been written in Western letters (not that there is one specific set of letters that you can call Western).

I'm getting my avatar in black tattooed on my shoulder with the words "One among The Fence" underneath it by the end of this year.

My feeling on tattoos are;

Get something that means something to you. Something you won't regret down the line. Don't get it because it looks cool. Take your time and get something that has true meaning in your life. I've waited 6 years to find something that meant enough to me to get it put on my body for the rest of my life.

I want a laurel wreath tattooed around my right wrist, with the words 'Imperator' underneath.

Because of some shit I got over a few years ago. And I'm a student of Roman history. So, yeah.

I was promised a poll, dammit!

I have no intention of getting a tattoo - I don't like the idea of deliberately permanently changing my body in a way I may regret later[footnote]Unless someone manages to find a way to make me 4 inches taller. Then I'm there![/footnote]. Others are entitled to do what they will, it's just not for me.

I like tattoos. Do I have any? No. Do I want to get one. Yes. Do I know what kind of tattoo I want to get. Err..actually no.

To be honest, I don't even know if I would get one. I'd rather wait until I have a damn good idea of what I want.

They don't bother me too much, so long as it's not like "Look, my entire body is a canvas!" I know a few people who have them, and it doesn't really bother me. This one guy that was a regular at the waterpark I work at actually had a portrait of his family's faces across his back. Pretty badass, and really realistic (they were with him).

I keep thinking of getting the "beyond infinity" tattoo that Jack has in BioShock on my wrists, but I can't really decide yet. Plus, if I ever get married/have kids, I might end up tattooing their names or something.

So you decided to edit it without correcting anything? Change the title. You should also capitalize Japanese while you are at it.

It's been going on a decade since I started getting tattoos and I still like all of them. Just remember they are permanent and you body might not stay exactly the same shape it is right now, might be best to consider that.

Some can be really impressive, while others... eh, not so much. Then there's the whole getting saggier as I get older thing. But, anyway, I wouldn't get a tattoo, but I encourage others to do whatever they want with their body.

My dad's a professional tattoo artist. I got a tattoo for my 16th birthday. Now a lot of my right calf is covered in green and orange sheet music. I love tattoos.

I like tattoos. I'm currently planning my second one, although I have to be careful since I'm an actor and tattoos can limit the kinds of roles that you play: I.E. No full sleeves or neck tattoos for me.

I currently have a tattoo across my wrist that reads "This too shall pass". It's classy, not terribly flashy, easy to cover up and a good message to have on hand.

I kind of have a pet peeve when people get Kanji or Chinese tattoos, especially when they can't read the language. Sure, "Live in Harmony" looks great, but so does "Ignorant White Person".

To those of you thinking about getting a tattoo, my suggestion is to decide on something that you really like and then give it 6 months to a year. If you still want it after all that time, then it's clearly something that means something to you. If you can't wait that long, maybe you're a little impulsive to have something permanent etched into your skin. Food for thought.

And another possible one is (it HAS to be purple, which kinda sucks):

If I were to get Tats, There would have to a pointless and ridiculously stupid one. I've planned to get either Hello Kitty, or "What the Fuck is an Enchilada" tattooed on my left butt cheek. OT and seriously, I have no idea, I was thinking about getting the same kind of markings that Deadpool had in the New Xmen movie, but the shape of my body wouldn't suit it. T.T

Watch those Characters, I used to accommodate Exchange students for my local University, going into town one day a woman walks past the exchange student and myself. The students starts giggling, i asked her what was so funny, she said that the tattoo of the Japanese Character on her shoulder was for "Strawberry" and clearly marked under the character was "Strength"

I don't want one necessarily, but I like the way they look, if done properly.

If I could find one that represented me properly, I would definitely consider it.

My parents would probably even let me get it...
