ALL fighting games are the same, just typical button mashers that take no skill to play.
Go play Street Fight IV without playing the Challenges, online. After you get dominated, come back here and say that.
I played against people who claim to be expert players of STIV but I still won against them by button mashing.
Either they were lying, you are lying about being bad, you are lying about button mashing, or you are lying about beating them.

I find that to be hard to believe, as It is not newcomer friendly.
People said the same thing with Virtua Fighter but I still manage to beat "professional" players by button mashing and using the throw button.

Fighting games are mediocre tripe in the video game industry that doesn't express any sense of artistic form, Yahtzee rightfully bashed fighting games.
Not to point the finger but you're a lier.

also i have to point out that he qouted yhatzee almost word for word ... even with the button bashing and throw button remark

button bashers get picked off because most of the time they'll accidently trigger a combo or special move with a long cooldown, be left open and be SEVERLEY punished for it (especially by pro's who know almost every major move by heart) in tournament mode on SF4 once you get to the green tiers you never EVER run into button bashers simply because they can't last ... i dare anyone to try using yhatzees "button bash, throw" tactic there

I'm rather excited to get it, Miguel seems like a cool new character though Lars looks like he'll be annoying as hell. Still, probably going to buy it.

I'm not pumped, but only because I don't own a system that plays it.

Granted, the game is pretty fun, but there are only three reasons I'd play it over Tekken 5 DR: Bob, Miguel, and Armor King having a follow-up to his long sweep.

That describes a lot of fighting games, actually. You just have to find people who aren't bullshitting about their "experience."

Hell no. Virtua Fighter kills Tekken in gameplay. And Marvel vs Capcom 2,SSBB, and Blazblue kills Tekken in the fun factor.

The really bad ones are the ones in which you can knock someone out of the ring, aside SSBB. I once beat a total pro by using a quick attack that kept me outside his reach and knocked him out of the ring.
Ah, yes, the cheap ringout victories. I can't think of many games with those, though. Which game were you playing when you beat the other guy?

If you say "Soul Calibur," I'm going to laugh until I fall out of my chair, and then explain to you what exactly "pro" means.

Yeah I forgot every other genre is completely varied and each title is different from each other.

On topic, I was. Then Asuka Kazama fired an arrow.

Part of me died that day.

I'm far away from overhyped. I'm only buying this one to see what more supernatural motherfuckery Namco came up with this time and then I won't buy the next sequel.

I don't know, the amount of fighting games exceeds my capacity of care. Wasn't Soul Caliber though, I know because whenever I play that, if I ever do as I don't own it personally, I play as Darth Vader.
Just checking. That series has a weird reputation on these forums of favoring button mashers, perpetuated by people who have never played against me.
