Yeah I forgot every other genre is completely varied and each title is different from each other.

On topic, I was. Then Asuka Kazama fired an arrow.

Part of me died that day.
Sorry about that man, but I found worse. And I do not wish to show you

I'm hoping it'll be more Soul Cal 4 rather than SF4, in other words, interesting.

Now before the *****-hail descends, let me explain:

The two series had roughly the same amount of characters. But where SC4 has SF4 beat is that every character in SC4 plays differently. Every single one. In SF4 there were 4 characters with exactly the same inputs, performing the same moves, with the only difference being the range/speed/damage of the moves. For anyone who isn't sure, these 4 characters are Ryu, Ken, Sagat and Dan.

Facing pallet-swaps of the same character every round does not spell out a good time for me. The closest thing SC4 had to clones were the Alexandria sisters and Asta-Rock. Even then Cassandra was more a power fighter and Sophitia was very combo-oriented. Astaroth focused on smacking the opponent around upright and in the air while Rock punished them the moment they hit the ground.

Speaking of when your opponent hits the ground, there is no ground-based combat in SF, at all. Once you hit the ground you are almost invulnerable, the worst your opponent can do to you is correctly anticipate when you're gonna get up again. The lack of sidestepping does not help this.

There are more reasons that will come to me when I'm in a state of full awake-ness, so I'll finish by saying this.

I hope Tekken 6 is more like SC4 than SF4 because I know that I sure as hell never wished I was playing SF4 when I was playing SC4, and NOT vice-versa.

I like Tekken for the nostalgic value. So I only play 2 and 3 :D
Didn't like it from tag onwards.

No I am not. The last Tekken game I liked (and still play) was Tekken 3. Still might play though to see if it can change my mind about the series.

Eh, not so much, since this season is already saturated with awesome fighters to enjoy. Never enjoyed Tekken that much myself since the higher level play basically just concentrates on who gets the launcher in first. I'm more of a 2D fighter guy, anyway.

And the interesting comment that someone always writes on every thread about fighting games is "I've beaten pros by button mashing". Who are these pros you've beaten? Have they won any tournaments? How consistently did you beat them? If a game like Marvel vs Capcom or Street Fighter is about button mashing, why do the same people win national and international tournaments over and over? If hitting buttons indiscriminately was a good way to win these games, you'd be seeing a lot more variety in the winners for each game. In fact, there wouldn't be international tournaments for the games if that was what the games were about.

Go play Street Fight IV without playing the Challenges, online. After you get dominated, come back here and say that.
I played against people who claim to be expert players of STIV but I still won against them by button mashing.
I find that to be hard to believe, as It is not newcomer friendly.
People said the same thing with Virtua Fighter but I still manage to beat "professional" players by button mashing and using the throw button.

Fighting games are mediocre tripe in the video game industry that doesn't express any sense of artistic form, Yahtzee rightfully bashed fighting games.

See it's that kinda of attidude that really pisses me off. You belive that you're opinon is the only one that truley matters and that everyone else is wrong. I mean you're a horrible liar who bashes everygame and thinks he's a true gamer becuase he is Jaded. Fighting games were a big step forward when they were made as they were some of the first big classics after Platformers.

Also please leave the escapist as we would like to destroy you're bridge.

Tekken is one of my faviorite fighters and is an arcade classic in my view. I'm looking forward to it.

Button mashers are probably more dangerous for me, because there's no way you can predict what they're going to do. If I'm up against one, I'm hoping they find a "cool" move or sequence that they stick with.

EDIT:

I'm far away from overhyped. I'm only buying this one to see what more supernatural motherfuckery Namco came up with this time and then I won't buy the next sequel.
Azazel. Giant crystal-demon thingy monster as the end boss in the arcade. If you include tehcnological motherfuckery, count Nancy the Robot as well (though both aren't playable as far as I can tell).

You're in the wrong industry. Video games aren't meant to express a sense of artistic form. They can, video games can be art, but their first port of call is entertainment.

As for your post, either your full of that foul smelling waste substance or he wasn't professional. No professional would lose by simply being thrown or button bashed at, and that goes for most fighting games. Try doing that on guilty gear, or Smash Bros. Hell get online with someone on the forums who claims to be adept at a fighting game and see if it still works.

After your big talk and the elitist attitude I feel the need to challenge you, sir godly button masher. Seriously, if you say games like SFIV require no skill and you can win every match by button mashing then you are talking out of your ass.

Get off that high horse.

Anyway, yes I am looking forward to Tekken 6. Since Soul Calibur IV destroyed my love for 3D fighters, I hope T6 will restore it. Kazuya, for the win.

Wait are you talking to me? Becuase I was trying to defend the games like Sf4. I personally didn't like it becuase it wasn't newbie friendly (It made me feel kinda stupid everytime I lost.) But I still think it dosen't require mindless button mashing.

So you're saying that it doesn't matter whether a game is 2D or 3D, has weapons or not, is a sports simulation or outlandish fantasy game, is restricted to an arena or has an interactive 3D environment, ALL fighting games are the same because they share a common control method, that they all have buttons which someone unskilled can mash if they choose to?

Do you also think all RTS game are the same, just mouse-scrollers, that all FPS games are the same, just trigger-pullers and that all driving games are the same, just wheel-turners?

UFC Undisputed has buttons which can be mashed, but you won't get very far doing that, in fact I'll say that 9/10 you could beat a button masher without pressing any of the attack buttons yourself, just by using the right-analogue stick and one or two shoulder buttons.
