Cyndaquil... Because you cannot deny that an adorable flaming hedgehog that evolves into an adorable, badass badger that can turn itself into a rolling fireball is completely epic. Also, because Gen 2 is completely better than Gen 1 in almost every aspect.
What did I just say about Gen 2? There was no Gen 2.

Move along, Sir.
Gen two was the best series. Gold/Silver are the best games, you get 2 worlds! And they nailed the gameplay.
No, no, no, I insist. There was only Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Green doesn't count, due to Japanese release.

I remember, though, in a faraway dream that I was playing a certain Gameboy Advance game. Reminded me a lot of Pokemon Red! Though, I had to choose a different starter...now, what was his name? I recall my friend saying something about him hearing that I liekd my new starter Pokemon...

i always go with water type, its really easy to catch a good grass type and fire type early in the game, a decent water type might not be available until the last 3 gyms. also the layout of gym's usually puts rock type up first.

Really depends on your battle style, and the specific version. I tend to start with Fire, then collect and level decent support types.

I've always noticed that fire types are much too weak to water attacks, and even though water types are weak to plant attacks, they're not *that* weak. My first time through, I chose Squirtle and beat my rival in the first fight. I was never able to beat the rival in the first fight using Charmander or Bulbasaur.
If that's what you've always noticed, then you're completely wrong.

Squirtle is my main man, even though Bulbasaur makes the first two gyms laughably easy. But you never see Bulbasaur wearing cool shades.

Charmander, hands-down. Legendaries aside, Charizard is the best fire type pokemon in the game. Fire pokemon are also the rarest of the 3 starter types.

Charmander, though I like Pikachu from yellow better, at least you can see him outside of battles.
Too bad they don't give you the possibility to come too late in the newer games...

Charmander, just has to be.

Gen 1 is undoubtedly the best, however, Gen 2 deserves recognition, Silver and Gold were Well made. The 3rd and 4th generations are a lie.

charmander is the greatest... of the 3, fireblast is superior in all ways to the grass and water equivalent... it just looks cooler

i remember on my first run through, my charizard had dig, fly, fireblast and firespin on. epic epic combination!

I've gotta put my money on Charmander... then again I've always had a thing for the fire type starters!B But seriously, Charmander and their two evolutions look pretty sweet >.>
