EVERYONE LIKES THE COMPANION CUBE!

Anyone that does NOT like the companion cube, should be shipped off to a work camp.

I liked the companion cube, it was a nice sort of tertiary character. I didn't really mind euthanising it, but there was a point in one of the later levels where I suddenly thought.
"Y'know who I miss..." So I guess I should be a little worried.

But in truth, the Companion Cube did not threaten to stab me, so we saw eye-to-eye from the very start.

I liked it, and i felt some remorse when i burned it, but only because the game implied it was a bad thing to do.

I was very happy to destroy the cube, glaDOS was very sure I would become attached to it so I was very happy to see it destroyed. I like the concept of the cube so I voted yes, valve did it very well but I didn't "like" the cube per say.

The Companion Cube was just part of the incredible dark humor that made Portal such a fun game. I really wish that game had been longer, I had no idea about the C.Cube before I played and when I got it I was stoked and incinerating it did feel weird for me. It was the dialog that accompanied having the cube that really makes that part of the game stand out.

I liked it merely for the snarking received from GLaDOS about it. It doesn't talk, doesn't stab you in the back, would have been at your party had you not killed it and so on.

As a meme, I absolutely hate it. But that is true for the majority of memes.

The cube tells me that you are all wrong, that the cube has feelings too... The cube is forever, don't deny it. He won't hurt me, but he will hurt anyone who tries to...

... Okay, now I got all the crazy out of my system.

OP: I liked the Companion Cube, it was helpful, didn't hurt me in any way (except for when it was killed...) and lastly, it had a heart on it! :D

I loved my companion cub :(
It talked to me, such a good friend.

It was kinda overblown, but I still loved it.
Dude I know exactly how you feel. Putting my cube in the incinerator was the most upsetting moment in my life.

"Though earth and man are gone,
I thought the cube would last forever.
I was WRONG."

I played that level /just/ to see that graffiti again. *Sighs contentedly*

I liked the cube. It was a useful tool. I would not have completed the level without it. Also it never threatened to stab me.

I have the same affection for the cube as I do for the M4 in Left 4 Dead, and for Zoey and Bill. They're my happy little tools. :)

I loved the idea that I was supposed to really care about it. And it had hearts on it.
If only it made cute noises as well.

GLaDOS was the real star.

there are three types of people in the world
Aural - People who like to here reasuring vote and voice of confidence.
Materialistic - People who form attachments to objects and want to receive gifts as a reward for doing well
Kinetic - touchy people, who need to be touched in order to feel reasured.
I'm guessing I'm aural, since I never formed an attachment to dogmeat of the Fallout3 series, the cube from Portal, Aerith from FF7, any of the devils in the Digital Devil Saga, etc.

I'm not kinetic because I find it a waste of time when people go out of the way to say, "I really appreciate the work your doing, but..." or "It's not that I don't appreciate all the hard work you have done, but...." I don't need someone to pat my head and say "Good boy," after I accomplish something. If I did, I would probably have a facebook account or something by now.

assuming there is only three kinds of people in the world and I crossed out two of three then must mean I'm Aural.

Yes. I tend to bond (James Bond) with objects in the real world and in the game world. Killing the Companion Cube was wrong, what was the point? Making the test subject miserable?

people tend to get involven in games too much, even as to care about NPC´s or anything that they think is cool, i got an attatchment with the companion cube, because of what GLADoS said, it made me feel awfull after i incinerated it, i felt alone again, wich is a thumbs up for the writing in game, i don´t know, perhaps if GLADoS had said nothing about the thing nothing would had come from it, for this to happen or to understand you have to have a great imagination and really care about the story being told.

i know it´s stupid, i know it´s not there, i know even if it existed it would still be a box with hearts in it, BUT i got involved in the story, which made it posible for me to emulate feelings.

perhaps it´s just my gullible being or my wishfull thinking of living in a video game, but hey! its just a way for you to get involved in the game and more aware that you are alone in that lab with a lunatic piece of equipment.

I'm afraid that if you don't know what is awesome about the Companion cube, then we can't tell you what's awesome about the Companion cube.
