Ahh that Conduit. Wii's very own Halo (Don't Quote me on that). Made with the Promise to be the Wii's definitive shooter, Online and off. Only recently purchased by me because poor reviews put me off. However, I am Here to give my opinion.
Okay so the controls, Great, Feel very natural and fluid, some tweaking required, but once thats nailed then its probably the best controlling shooter I've ever played. To quote one review I read (But Can't remember who said it) Unlike in other games it doesn't feel like you're fighting against the controls. And its quite nice too look at with soften edges and blur effects and the like.
But... There's a few problems... Namely Level design. Corridors upon corridors. leading to the occasional big battle, but even they fail to impress as you have to destroy the conduits otherwise be left with respawning enemies. Feels repetitive and sloggy. And they had Fake boss fights with large enemies that are pretty reluctant to attack you. So the gameplay, while fluid, isn't great. The weapon design is a bit better, the trust weaponry standing out as the best contribution. Though I would have liked to have seen better SFX from the drudge weapons (Though reloading is a great joy to listen to).
The story... Well it isn't terrible. But it isn't told very well at all. The dialogue is pretty strained, and the between mission briefings can make you're mind numb. Still, that said, I found myself getting a bit involved with the story on the last lesson when an actually surprising twist in the plot. But, too little too late.
Anyway Online... Pretty good. Probably the toughest online community I've gone up against (And I'm a PC gamer!). Lag is minimal and the modes, while not revolutionary, do a good job of keeping you interested.
So, a few of you may be wondering, why isn't this in the User Review section. Well I'll tell you why, Because I want to pose a question. You see, I find myself really wanting a sequel to this title. Fix the level design, lighten up the Dialogue and introduce real Boss fights and you've got a Game worth at least 8/10.
So, tell me, those of you who have played this game, DO you want to see more of this title?
