Poll: The Coolest Anime Characters

EDIT: Okay people, perhaps I didn't make myself clear... this poll only allows EIGHT choices, okay? I can't possibly include ALL cool anime characters ever invented! I'd need at least 30 spots for that... and many of you would still complain about not having their personal faves and whatnot in said list. So please, just bear with me...

Alucard is the only Anime character I recognize as cool.

She is the best anime/manga character there is, full stop. Season 3 of the anime already please!!! >.<

In all seriousness, Holo makes me all fangirl. She's aloof, clever, charming, seductive (and knows it) ... more than once casually wrapping men around her little finger in elabourate mind games that both psychologically and intellectually dominate her male merchant counterparts.

And unlike every other fucking female character in anime/manga who seem to think the whole 'silent, demure, and blushy-blushy cutesyness is how females should be' ... or even worse, the "revolutionary" 'gruff, 16, unabashed douchebaggette' ... she's an actualized female role doing a profession that females were typically (in which the anime and manga covers extensively during one story arc) warded away from. Heaven forbid if a woman earnt gold, rather than credit, so that they could freely spend their excess wealth.

Wonderful character that not only refuses to be cookie-cut into a role, but also discovers means to make the system work for her and best her competition without resorting to excessive violence or criminal activity.

So that is why Holo is my all-time favourite anime character ....

Yuuko from Holic is a close second.

Um... from series I would go with Alucard, Haruhi Suzumiya, and Kenshin. If we include movies, then Ashitaka from Princess Mononoke or more likely, Calcifer from Howls moving Castle.

My top favorites would be:

Soul - Soul Eater (he's the epitome of cool, none are cooler then he)
Edward Elric - Full Metal Alchemist 1st series (all time favorite anime)
Briareos Hecatonchires - Appleseed (to mis-quote Yahtzee, "He is a tank that walks like a man"

Spike is also one of my favorites and I agree, Astro Boy doesn't get enough love.

It was a tough decision but Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho would probably top my list.

He wears a pink school uniform, is mistaken for being a girl, has a flower motiff, uses plants as a weapon, and still manages to be bad ass in spite of all that. He's also the only character in the series that Hiei admits to being afraid of.

Second would probably be Simon, yes I think Simon is cooler than Kamina. He killed a guy with what is esentially his car keys and created a drill out of his own blood.
