Dark side, theres mindless violence and sex.

Hopefully not together though :S
If there is, it probably would be together.

Sadly, most Sith seem to be strangely asexual for people who run on passion. Seriously, can you name a Sith Lord with a loving significant other? Sith like passion, but they seem to think that being passionate about love just makes you weak.

Because the Sith aren't really about passion, they're about power and control.

Light Side all the way.
I think Maul, Dooku, and Sidious would disagree with you there. Remember that Dooku was able to reliably beat both Obi-Wan and Anakin multiple times until Anakin finally gave into his anger.

Following the Light Side =/= Following the Jedi Code

There are many means for killing people, but few for healing, so I'll stick with a good shotgun blaster and Force Heal.

I agree, although some Sith seem to have a frightening lack of control over their power.... The Sith were corrupted from their original intention in my opinion. I love the life lessons in the Sith Code, it's just that every Sith is just way too negative. Use some positive passion people! Just cause you are Sith doesn't make you evil!

While I don't strictly believe in the Dark Side philosophy, the Light Side is just nonsense. Having to forego love and any relationships? Having to ignore vastly helpful uses of the force? Emotion of all sorts being evil? Rubbish!

The DS philosphy is very self centered, while the LS is about what one can do for others. Why can not a DS master be a nice person? That's what I would be. The full power of the force, able to use whatever powers and learning all aspects of the force in a balanced way, not dissimilar to Jacen Solo, or perhaps indirectly, Starkiller. In D&D terms, I'm chaotic good. I do the morally right thing (like the Jedi) but ignore the pointless laws and rules that serve no purpose.

Also, Force Lightning is handy if you get a flat car battery, go to a rave or to play a joke on people which you can later pass off as having worn nylon socks on a woolen carpet.

While I get what your saying, I did only say sex and not love. Instead of hump and dump it would be hump and......force choke?

everyone in the world technically is on the dark side of the force.
I laugh alot when people say they are a jedi and are married with children.

There is no option for a ballance. I want to use both, it's ok if I don't master either, as long as I can develop a balance.

Because you fail to understand the nature of the Light and Dark. I'll give you a hint - love and marriage are not part of the Dark Side.

+100 Darkside points

wha?
'Cuz you have to be really angrily saving people from dehydration to use force lightning?

OT: I would prefer Light Side. If it's only the powers, I have no need to efficiently torture and murder (seeing as I have no desire to torture or murder most people). If it includes the ideology, well the Light Side seems easier to move away from than the "Eats your SOUL" of the Dark Side, and still with the Light Side being more useful.

Dark Side gets all the cool stuff.

I'd suck at it (not as good at being a self-aggrandizing, backstabvbing prick as the credo demands to survive - unless we're One Sith/Pre Ro2 Sith), but Dark Side. Always Dark Side.

they get cool black robes, force lightning, force choke and the better mental domination powers.

Marriage no. Love and compassion always cause problems for the light, though good in context if those who can control the force feel those emotions strongly they cloud judgment in keeping the light side strong and can be manipulated far too easily as a tool for the darkside.
Regardless the fact that you are trying to troll me here indicates you are definatly one of us who walk the dark path...its just so much more fun

Light, but I doubt I'd stick around long after the Jedi trained me... depending on the era of Star Wars history we're talkin' about. Post-Ruusan Jedi tend to have sticks up their asses... at least until they get wiped out and reformed.

As for Force Lightning... one doesn't have to channel hatred to manipulate electricity with the Force. Force Lightning is an effective weapon because it's not just electricity. I for one wouldn't want it for a weapon anyway.

Contrary to popular belief, Jedi are not celibate, they are against emotional ties.
To paraphrase, you can screw whoever you want as much as you want, just no cuddling afterwards.

UNLIMITED POW~AHHHHHHHHH!!

Sorry, Dark Side. I dont like being tied down to the "morals" of the "good guys".
Honestly, i dont even think im "Dark Side". I like to fit in the grey area. Maybe dark grey.

See, the "Light Side" tends to be forced into a role. Protector~! Savior~! Selfless~! Kind to children~!

Im the kind of guy whos more likely to tell a child the story of Jeff the Killer ((GO TO SLEEP)) then share my candy with them. Not that i actually would tell a child that story. Im not THAT cruel. Id most likely just say "No, go chew a rock" then share with him, but you get the idea.

The "Light Side" just has to many constraints to it. Its like being a paladin. Either you can stay true to the path at all times, or you just cant be it. Im like.... Jolee Bindo. Im not a mean guy. Im nice. Id like to think friendly. But if you say something wrong, im more then happy to tell you to "Go f*ck yourself", but if you apologized i would forgive you.

But by classification, if i HAD to choose a side, id choose dark. Much or fashionable. Cooler robes and more loose on their morals. Far more likely to pick up hot babes. They may be a bit crazy, but at least they wont deny a good night in bed with a hot stud like me because its "Wrong" to enjoy yourself.

Well as Knights of the Old Republic proved, being a member of any side of the force has absolutely no impact on your moral values. So obviously I would choose the dark side being a much stronger and aggressive style of combat.

So now everyone gets to watch me totally fanboy out re: Star Wars

I, for one, believe in the potentium [http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Potentium] hypothesis, which is to say that the force is a resource, and it is in their intent and created outcome that decides its shade. Powers are not necessarily light-side or dark-side any more than a microwave oven, or plutonium, or even something as martial as a battleship.

Case in point, in the game TIE fighters into stormtroopers [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Jedi_Knight:_Jedi_Academy].)[/footnote]

Now it's my own personal hypothesis (hinted at in the original trilogy, but pretty easily inferred in the prequels) that the movies are propaganda films from the perspective of the Jedi order and the New Republic[footnote]The immaturity of the quabbles between Obi-Wan and Anakin, and the quickness with which Anakin / Vader kneels to Palpatine kinda gives away the narrative skew.[/footnote] I suppose, if I wanted to be conspiratorial, I could hypothesize that they were released by the Empire as bad propaganda by the Rebellion / Republic, but that's getting a bit meta.

That said, it's hinted at but left terribly vague that accumilating and maintaining dark-side powers requires a lot of kitten-eating[footnote]Proverbial kitten-eating, of course, but the literal truth is usually worse. This is a classic Kung-Fu-Theater trope, in which a powerful fighting style (or magic sword or whatever) requires lots of blood sacrifice or other evil doing in order to function, ergo why the good guys can't adapt the unstoppable style for themselves.[/footnote] Luke was able to grippy-grippy without ill effect in Return of the Jedi so the difference between light-side and dark-side may not be what you use your powers for so much as how you fuel them.

I'd use both, and let my own morals decide my actions.

They actually do have people in Star Wars that do this, such as the Grey Jedi.

Jedi and Sith are both extremist idiots, and both have made HUGE mistakes.

Jedi: Kotor's Mandalorian War: Caused chaos that continued for hundreds of years, all because the Jedi Council decided it would try to stay away from the fighting. If they had actually supported the Republic, it's a good guess they would've been able to keep Revan from turning dark, or at least stopped him before he found the Star Forge.

Sith: Um, just about everything they've done, ever.
My feelings exactly. The worst part about the Jedi is the countless students of theirs have fallen to the Dark Side, and rather than think that this might be because of their code being flawed and trying to fix it, they blame the person instead. As a result it's been happening, over and over and over again for as long as the Jedi Order has existed.

The flaw in their thinking is they condemn any emotions whatsoever, and they don't teach their students how to deal with it, so when they inevitably feel emotion, it overwhelms them and they go completely overboard with it, turning to the Dark Side.

As for the Sith, they just do evil for evil's sake and without any thought as to what their actions might lead to. Thus, they continuously do stupid things that cause them to lose time and time again. Palpatine was probably the only exception, seeing as he used his guile to conquer the galaxy, but even he ultimately succumbed to Stupid Evil and lost everything, and if you count his EU resurrection it happened twice!

They're already flawed as is with their tendency toward Stupid Evil, but their backstabbing ways often results in wasted manpower and killing off somebody in the worst possible time, plus the idea behind it doesn't actually work. The idea is that apprentice kills the master makes them stronger as a whole which is good on theory but not in practice. What it results in is the Master seeking to avoid their deaths is too paranoid to teach their apprentice much of anything, while the apprentice rarely if ever kills their master by straight combat, it's usually through trickery. Both result in the apprentice not learning everything their master has to teach and thus actually getting weaker with each generation.

OT: For me, my morality would be much like it is now, I wouldn't have any. I'd do what I think is the smart thing to do in any situation as I do IRL, which would probably mean I'd lean towards the Dark Side ultimately, and I'd use Force Powers as needed, probably Dark Side for offense, Light Side for defense, in short, as the situation warrants. So I'd be Grey with a little Dark in me.
