I joined to join in on an discussion, I knew that making a thread would be stupid without knowing the community.

Pretty much the same. Seems too awkward and "noobish" in my mind to jump straight into making a topic, especially if you make one mistake, they'll rip into you like hyenas cross-bred with a blender.

I also have a low post count because I only jump on and post in topics I think interest me.

I also joined after watching ZP and a comic featuring the Half-Life world... Which I've now forgotten and am willing to give a cookie to whomever finds it. Something about John Freeman or something.

It was a long time before I made my first thread.

Same here, I also joined around two months before posting anything.

While I have created a couple of (failed) threads I wouldn't say that was the reason I joined, almost no-one visited the forum I used to write on so I figured I'd go here.

So far it's worked out pretty well.

I had been a long time fan of the shows but after setting up desktop RSS feed on my works computer I decided to add the Escapist RSS. As a result, I started to see some articles appear which, if it was quiet at work, I would feel the need to post in.

yeah i was talking to a friend about movies and she gave me a link to here and the pointed a gun at my head and said "create an account and post something or i'm going to blow your brains out"
