Didnt the French help the Americans during the revolution? I'm actually kinda hoping that since Ubisoft are a french company they do all this "AMERICA F YEAH!!" now and then in the game do a complete 180 to "VIVA LA FRANCE!!" :p

I don't really see it as that big of a deal. I mean, I'm American, but that's not the reason. I wouldn't care if Connor was a full brit and we were straight up slaughtering colonists.

I think that Ubisoft is just using the patriotic trailer to appeal to Americans, since it marks the birth of our nation and all. Besides, I doubt there will be a lack of killing of colonists because Connor is native American. He's probably just getting in good with the colonists so he can murder their asses for taking his land and killing his people.

All things considered, how bitchin' would a boss fight versus George Washington?

(Kind-of wishing this game had been set in the Civil war, lots less drama. Except from the hick Southerners that still fly the stars n' bars, like they aren't racist mo-fos. But who listens to those hicks anyhow!)

The British are some of history's worst tyrants. You can't keep hiding your past behind Shakespeare and proper pronunciation. I don't mind if they get their asses kicked a little bit.

I bet you're completely unbiased :D
Oh come on, the British Empire spent entire centuries stomping all over the globe, gleefully wrecking everybody's shit, to the degree that there is a direct correlation between being a third world country and a former British colony (except for the US and Australia, but they both benefited from being as far away from Britian as possible).

And that's not even taking into account the British Empire's penchant for dropping settlers into hostile environments and sitting idly by while they go batshit insane and torture, enslave and/or massacre the local populace.

Complete and utter crock.

To argue that the British were poor colonisers and that there is a direct correlation between their colonies and the third world... is objectively wrong.

Go ahead and compare the former British colonies to the former French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and god forbid Belgian colonies.

You can look back smugly and bash Britain, but ultimately the countries they colonised benefited from an efficient bureaucracy, the rule of law and a foundation of democracy.
You yourself cited American, Canada and Australia as examples of former British colonies that are now hugely succesful. What about India? A nation of over one billion human beings of different faiths and cultures, but which continues as the world's largest democracy.

Perhaps Britain could be blame for the ongoing conflict in Sudan, but the British only conquered it relatively recently, and as I understand the combat is part of an ongoing battle between cultures and religions within the country.

Of course this doesn't mean they were justified in their conquests, or their treatment of the local population but they weren't this incompetent child wrecking every nation and leaving nothing after they had looted the remains, that was the Belgians.

It's not so much that I dislike the British being painted in bad light, more like I dislike just how 'America fuck yeah!' the trailers have been so far.
Given the time period it doesn't seem like they could have done it any other way without major backlash. This way, they get to keep all the fans they earned over the years and pull in a few crazy patriots.

Americans like to believe the revolution was a black and white tale about the monstrously evil British vs. the poor ol' average American. Everyone loves an underdog after all.

Seeing as America also seem to think they were 9/10ths of the WWII fight it's probably best to let them have their little romantic war story. We still have the secret of Branston pickle, so everybody's still a winner.
