I Have always been a rampant Zelda fan. Watching my dad defeat Ganon's temple at the age of 5 (to my father's regret) is what made me into the gamer I am today. Along with Mario and Super Smash Bros, The Legend of Zelda I what compels most Nintendo fans to buy the next system again and again. I love the series for still being a shining example for how to make a game right and I know others love the series for various reasons.

However, There are also plenty of people who don't share my enthusiasm and generally criticize the series for always having the same plot every game, "SAVE THE PRINCESS". Personally I find it strange when the plot for every FPS out there is "SHOOT STUFF". [See it's 1 less word than Zelda!]

Yet in honor of the series for enriching gamers lives for 25 years, I'd like to ask the gaming community what makes them either play or avoid The Legend of Zelda.
I was also quite the Zelda fan, but like you said in you second paragraph, the plot is almost the same for each game. I just feel Zelda needs to do something new, and I mean groundbreaking for the series. I dont know what that is, but to me, almost each game feels the exact same as the one before it (save Link's Awakening, the oracle games for the GBA and Majora's Mask, which after OoT, are my favorite games.)

Hate it.

Zelda is for kids. People shouldn't be enjoying Zelda past about age 15. I was watching my sister play Twilight Princess recently, and I can find things that STILL HAVE NOT CHANGED SINCE 19 FUCKING 98. Or 1980 whatever the fuck it was when the NES version came out. It doesn't change. Kids don't like change. It's marketed to a young audience.

The last Zelda game I enjoyed was Majora's Mask. I was 11 at the time. I've played OoT again, Wind Waker, and watching my sister play Twilight Princess, I just see so little change. The setting might be different, but the feeling is the same. The weapons are the same. The process of acquiring the weapons is the same. There's just no change whatsoever. Even the fucking music is the same. I swear I heard the Great Fairy music from the Great Fairy grottos in OoT in Twilight Princess.

So I say... Zelda is for kids and manchildren. I outgrew it long ago and now despise it for not growing up with me.
Well I'm glad you're around to make that determination for all of us. I knew things had to be only a matter of black or white. Thank you good ser, your passed judgement has opened my eyes and I can now become a man.

The Zelda series has come very far from its humble roots, and hopefully continues to improve.

That being said, of course I love the series.

There are people who genuinely hate Zelda? I'm shocked. I'm gonna buy the 3ds OOT rerelease myself.

I play Legend of Zelda because it gives you some action and you have to solve puzzle which some are hard and some are easy. I play the the new ones like Spirit Tracks which was good. Although it was a save the princess Zelda one like most Zelda games. With Phantom Hourglass it was save Tetra with having a ship and the spirits you had to rescue but Tetra is Zelda so it's another save Zelda game.
