Seems like another way for Microsoft to make money! It would be cool to see a plug-in something similar to Netflix for UK users when the next full update is made available. :)

The Americans get Netflix, the UK gets Sky TV in August.

OT: The UK hasn't recieved any update as of yet, or any update I care to notice anyway. I think we'll be getting our update on the 11th of August if I've read it right?

I will never pay to clothe my avatar, they can't charge you for what you already have and I'm happy with my current avatar so that shouldn't be a problem. This really does look like another excuse to drain money from the general populace.

PS3 owners will be howling with laughter right now, as they still have totally free online play as far as I know..

I don't really think it's a major update, just some fixes and upgrades to the previous fall update. Won't catch me dead paying for avatar stuff, but I'm excited for the additional features on Netflix. Overall, I'm sort of "meh" about the update since it's not anything major or earth-shatteringly different.

I can't imagine why people would want Facebook on the 360.
"Finally, I can update my status with the games that I'm playing 24/7!"
Quite frankly, I'd prefer to keep the amount of time I spend playing Fallout 3 a secret.

The only features that interest me are the Awards and the conveniently located tracker of how much gamer score you have out of the maximum you could possibly obtain. Those will be nice to have, but the rest might as well not exist, as much as I care about it.

I think the concept behind the pay money for avatar items is that, if some people are willing to do it, Microsoft might as well make money from it. They'd be idiots not to. Honestly, you don't have to pay for anything, it's an option. Don't use it if you don't want. I highly doubt I will, unless I have a few points left over from something.

As for all the other stuff, I have no problems with it. It's free, and I'm happy with that. Looking forward to the 11th so that I can actually try the stuff out.

I challenge you to find my avatar. Why? Because I want to see how infrequently those little pieces of digital crud are used.

hint: My gamertag is real simple.

Because its a really bad idea...

They have added avatar unlockables from certain achievements which is fine, but spending achievement points...?

Yeah it's still free. I'm not really howling with laughter though. I've always been somewhat perplexed that people would pay a fee to access online play via Xbox Live. I've heard people say that connections are more stable and whatnot, but from my experiences with my very brief gold membership, the connection qualities seemed relatively equal to the PSN. Meh...to each his own though. I'd certainly never pay for something that I can get elsewhere for free...legally of course... :p

nothing new I could really care about,
one of the things I do like are the Inside Xbox, streaming vis straight into your box.
and if the Radio is something similar, and that I can listen to it while playing, I hope that they put reviews and stuff into the radio.

I think the people who say it's better for connection are those who are trying to justify paying to Microsoft. I like my xbox, but will not be paying for membership once this free month of Gold I got as compensation for having the RROD runs out. It's a shame that MS feel the need to drain money out of their customers to this extent, because it just means in the long run they get a terrible reputation.

And this update seems totally centred on people who want to have their wallets drained even faster than normal o_O

I'm willing to pay microsoft so that they would switch to linux. Also whats the point of achievements if they are practically useless?

You know it's not like anyones forcing you to buy virtual crap for your avatar...so I don't even get why thats viewed as a negative. For people with money to waste and actually care about junk like that it's great.

Netflix upgrade is great, the extra functionality is great...there really is no downside to this update and yet people somehow turned this thread into a "rofllmao ps3>360 lawls you guys pay 4 st0of" idiotic debate.
