I voted for "Why" because I think it is the most commonly asked question.

We like to know the reason/motive of everything that happens around us.The urge to solve the mystery of "Why" certain events occured.

It has to be somewhere between What and Why. I think throughout history the question of Why has been more important, but What has likely been used more often simply because of it's usefulness.
