This poll is pretty much meant for the sake of those curious to be able to simply look and see what the general opinion of the movie is with the minimal amount of spoilers or discussion about it. Is it good? Is it bad? LET'S FIND OUT!!!!

EDIT: Because I forgot to mention, please keep this spoiler-free. The main intent is for lazy people to be able to get a glance at the poll to see a general group opinion but... eh, if conversation happens, no spoilers.

As a Fan, and Self-Appointed Keeper of Lore? Didn't like it.
Still a fun movie to watch though.

It's not quite interesting enough to be amazing, but it's pretty good. Barring Mad Max it's the best thing I've seen at the cinema this year.

I really, really liked it but thinking back on it there's a lot that I feel needs to be explained. I'm sure the details I'm missing are hidden away in comics and the recently released Star Wars books.

I would tag spoilers. The movie has been playing since the 17th but there are still people who won't be seeing it until tomorrow or Sunday...or possibly later.

It was entertaining but not the second coming of Citizen Kane and not even the best Star Wars movie, keep expectations reasonable and it probably won't disappoint.

Worth noting, not a single gungan to be found, that alone elevates it over the prequels IMO.

It's fine.

Not big on Star Wars, but it was a relatively fun little space adventure.

The overall problem is that it's very middle-of-the-road. Nothing about it offends, and nothing about it stands out.

It was worse then the prequels. It had just as many plot holes and contrivances. I wouldn't recommend it to fans of Star Wars, or as a standalone film. Kind of disappointing, really : /

I think they did a better job with it than they did with the new star treks if that helps anyone.

I doubt you will find anyone who would suggest not to watch it.
worst case it's a fun movie with flaws that doesn't stack up against the rest, me personally i think it is the best star wars movie ever but only because I don't think the originals were anything special and the prequels were equal parts tax law 1O1 and shit sword fights.

Hello.
I just want to say that I'm glad that I'm not a dedicated fan of Star Wars, or I would have been massively disappointed.
I'd only recommend it to people who have the opportunity of watching it for free.

Compared to the 2000s star wars, the acting was better but the combat was worse. It has the new need for speeds level of deus ex machinas, and the main characters just walk right into the enemy fortress and press a button to disable the shields. Suspension of belief is dead quite early on.

People often slam the matrix sequels and star wars prequels for having too much lore and description but I disagree. Although they aren't perfect I think they are required to have an immersive universe. I'd rather have the same style as the 2000's movies but with good acting and waaaay less cringe worthy garbage and one liners, but they mustve thought that to be too risky.

That being said the combat in the 2000s star wars wasn't particularly amazing, and being worse than that is a feat.

It's a functional, overall enjoyable film that is basically a rehash of A New Hope and adds little new in terms of story or concepts to the series. The inverse of The Phantom Menace really (which had good ideas but poor execution).

Just came back from seeing it. FINALLY, somebody remembered how to make these movies.

(Took bloody long enough.)

After thinking about it, it's a good movie that can only get better (or worse) after a second viewing and/or the later Episodes in this particular trilogy come out... almost like Episode IV only this time, everyone knows that it's getting a sequel instead of feeling like it's a one-shot deal that could have had more movies green-lighted beforehand...

Other than that, level one's expectations otherwise it might feel like watching The Phantom Menace without the [boring] politics...

I have to say that it's a very solid movie. It doesn't do anything new, but we really shouldn't expect that. Even IV was a retread of most of a very old story. We should not be surprised that VII is the same.

The plot is absolutely standard. No surprises, quite predictable. The execution, acting, effects, and script are all very good quality. If you don't require every major movie to be a revolution, you should like star wars so long as you don't over analyze it.
