With nearly every non-life-and-death-and-religion thread with a poll having a silly answer, I always notice people will click that or the middling "dunno/not bothered/meh" answer

The middling answer is because some people are either genuinley unconcerned, or too nervous to pick a side in a debate or choose something.

But the silly answer? Why are they there, and why do people click them? Is it because the joke is sometimes funny, and people think that clicking it makes THEM the propigator of the witty comment?

By the way, this isn't a rant (attitude is hard to judge with text, I know), I'm curious in an amused way more than frustrated.

Why? cause the poll is silly in the first place so it genuinely does not deserve a real answer.

Or something like that.

I usually pick the "third option", which is to say, one that isn't a choice. So I usually pick the one that approximates my opinion the best, or the "other" option.

The silly answer is there so that everyone may acknowledge how witty and clever the OP is for coming up with such a witty joke for a poll option. Which they never do.
Not even me? ;_____;

OT: I don't use it, but I see why some might like it.

Especially not you.

But especially not you.

I dislike the silly answers, they skew the answers of a pull which may otherwise be informative. I don't, however, think they're as bad as the entirely unnecessary polls. Very few threads really warrant posting at all a poll, I think they're often tacked on to somehow increase traffic/views.

Because oftentimes they're pointless and unnecessary.

Silly answers are just that, silly. Lots of people here like to be silly, as proven by the overwhelming amount of people who chose that llama choice in this pole here.

Silly silly silly silly silly, hooray!

Only sometimes.
Mostly only when the other options aren't very good, or if it REALLY impresses me.

I recall choosing one that made a very nice Sheogorath reference in it...

In some cases, it's because all the other answers are bias towards one opinion.

If the day comes where the silly answer is genuinely funny, I may click it. But it hasn't happened yet.

I think the thread creator just wants a bit of attention and a augh, so he throws in the nonsense option.

I pick the option I agree with.
Currently, there is no Llama mounting my head, so I voted no.
If the situation changes, I'll let you know.

I named my Llama Boris :p He's gonna be mayor of London...

Anyway, no. I'll normally pick the silly option if I have no opinion or if the poll has nothing to do with me...

I'd vote "sometimes" if the option were there. I'm refusing to vote the silly answer this time as a matter of principle.
