Well I vote for the humorous option if it is indeed humorous not just a random word or something. If the option actually makes me laugh then I vote for it. The thing about polls is, I don't take them seriously, half the time I don't even vote, I just answer in my post. If I do vote for the witty option then I will usually still answer in my post. Unless I don't care about the topic.

I rarely click on any pools. I much rather back up my argument of why I pick yes or no in the poll
Needless to say, I don't click on the silly option

I don't vote the silly option, as they can skew the poll. Why do people put them in?

([small]Just so you know, I voted for the llama answer... take that![/small])

If someone puts up a silly answer, I'm clicking it as a commentary on the validity of their poll.

With nearly every non-life-and-death-and-religion thread with a poll having a silly answer, I always notice people will click that or the middling "dunno/not bothered/meh" answer

The middling answer is because some people are either genuinley unconcerned, or too nervous to pick a side in a debate or choose something.

But the silly answer? Why are they there, and why do people click them? Is it because the joke is sometimes funny, and people think that clicking it makes THEM the propigator of the witty comment?

By the way, this isn't a rant (attitude is hard to judge with text, I know), I'm curious in an amused way more than frustrated.
I think silly answers are stupid and they wreck polls.

The purpose of a poll is to give accurate data on something. If you put in a silly answer a lot of people will just vote for that because they like the joke, rather than putting down what they REALLY think. Therefore you don't actually get the proper answer to your question. So you might as well just not have a poll at all if you're going to do that.

A middling answer is on the other hand completely fine, if it's a question with some grey area. Sometimes a lot of poll options ARE appropriate depending on the question. However, the "llama" stuff when the question isn't even about llamas... or even worse, multiple options that actually all mean the same thing, hey, put that stuff in if you want, but you're always going to corrupt your own poll results by doing that. I guess what you have to ask yourself is this: "do I REALLY want a good statistical representation of what people think, or do I not care about the data and just want to be a wiseass?".

Where is the "Sometimes" option?

Also, my hands would only be occupied if I were trying to take the Llama from atop my head... I am not as he makes quite a stylish living-hat.

Its "I wanna see the results" without clicking on the other button.

I generally only click it if I would otherwise click a middling answer.

The arbitrary stanceless silly poll option is a hallowed Escapist tradition.

As you can tell, by how many Escapists report having llamas mounting their heads.

If the thread/poll is ridiculous and stupid and doesn't deserve a respectable and thoughtful reply then I won't give much effort into replying thoughtfully and respectably
