No, this is not a topic about Nirn's constellations. I was just curious, what RPG archetype are you most comfortable playing with?

Is it the mighty Warrior, whose ranks include Knights, Monks and Archers?

Or perhaps the wise Wizard, who shares his house with the Cleric, Druid and Warlock (or any other fancy magic user)?

Art thou a wily Thief, knave? Do you consider the Assassin, Bard and Swashbuckler to be your brothers?

I like thieves. Stealth just adds a whole new metagame wherever it appears. I get a stiffy whenever I see leather armor. I think cowls are cooler than ninja masks. Short swords and bows are just sweet as hell seriously.

Mix and match, but I'm more the thief type.

Nothing's more satisifying than infiltration undetected, or silent neck snaps & blades to throats are more fun than the simple charge-in-and-whack-em.

most of the time warrior, I like hitting things with big swords (two handed swords if I can, thanks!)
but if it's a game like Skyrim, I'll play warrior first, then thief, then wizard

Archers are warriors now? o_O

I typically choose a Ranger/Sniper class to start out. But, of you think they're 'warriors', you're doing it wrong.

According to D&D, yeah.

Last time I checked, they were in the 'specialist' class, which you call "thief"; Rogues, Rangers, and Bards.

hah nice title to the thread, i actually know what your talking about, that song popped into my head less than a week ago randomly

OT: i love being the thief, just too much fun in all aspects of the game to be anything else personally

Wow, I'm the only wizard up in here, at least according to the poll results thus far. At any rate, in all the rpgs I play, I tend towards the mage archetype. I suits my arrogant, intellectual, and tyrannical personality just fine. Such an archetype grants me powers above and beyond the comprehension of ordinary mortals, and you know what, that's just great. It's also easy as hell, being able to roast enemies alive before they get off a single shot. Especially once you get that perk that makes all dual-cast destruction spells stagger the enemies they hit.

Whenever possible, I roleplay a financially crippled pugilist. Dressed in rags, flailing fists so powerful I might as well have a warhammer in each hand. I still don't understand why they removed Unarmed for Skyrim. =(

I also like to dabble around with all three archetypes, and I have no favorite.

It really depends on the game, if it was an openended sandboxish game that isnt turn based, like Torchlight, id probably play as the Warrior archetype, if there was a situation where it places emphasis on elements and status effects ala Dragon Quest probably the Wizard.

Though my forte is probably the Thief classes, they get bonus points when they're more than simple pickpockets (hey, free and possibly unique items!) and Assassins who probably does burst damage, bonus points if they have smooth, acrobatic stances. <3

Actually there's really four major archetypes in RPGs, you forgot priest/healer.

Healers are considered separate to mages/wizards.

If I dont get the option to customize, warrior. If I do, i base wizard cause I find their stats are easier to manipulate into being partially warrior.

I like a nice combo of warrior (archer) and thief. Its just so much fun firing a bow from the shadows.

I dont really agree with the Archers classification as a Warrior, so I've voted Thief as im usually a Stealth based Ranger.
