Please note, it was 3AM when I wrote this, I can't really think straight, yet I know what I'm talking about. Also, I'm not trying to change your beliefs, just commenting on a weird thought I had.

Now, I've been getting kind of annoyed with all the religious threads, but I just had the weirdest thought when it comes to God vs Satan. As everyone knows, people normally side with God, yet, if fundamentalists' ideas of God's morals are to be believed (and only those ideas, not the sensible believer's), he is the actual evil one. According to them, God is bigoted, jealous, malicious, short-tempered, and orders his followers to be mindless, zealot killers. Ironically, Satan (who is the bad guy), seems to be more tolerant, more accepting, he has killed less people, and, according to Genesis, he encouraged us to gain knowledge. It also seems that the only reason God was pissed at Satan was because Satan didn't like how God was running things and wanted to change it (kinda like the 13 colonies with Britain). So, my conclusion is, Satan isn't as bad as we make him out to be, while God is a complete douche.

Damn you, messing with my head! I have enough problems already working out what I believe about Christianity, let alone adding to that with "Satan is the good guy".

However, you have made some valid points. I willl obviously have to spend more time considering this.

All we really have to say that god is "good" is some fanfiction that was written 500 years after the man who claimed to be his son died.

Another odd thought, taken from Sickipedia- Christianity: One woman's lie to cover an affair that went wrong

God is like human who run the religion want him to be, no more no less. I once said to a priest that God was an hypocrit creature that was vengefull, in need of attention from us. The he was sadistic because he make us suffer than ask us to live through that suffering without question with a vague possiblity of a reward after our life. That he was the kind of God that i didnt want to spend the eternity with and that satan looked nicer.

so i kind of agree with you OP...

I have as well, I am not religious, and I know nothing about this subject, but I have heard this quite a bit as well.

I've heard it before, and I do get it. We are told Satan is bad by the people he left, though I haven't checked the bible out in detail so am not sure.

Well considering that I believe neither God, Satan nor any other form of supernatural or transcendal being with powers of supreme government over the human race actually exists, then neither do I believe that this being's antithesis (Satan) exists. So why should I busy myself considering whether two hypothetical, non-existant beings are morally righteous or not?

Put simply, you might as well argue that Emperor Zurg is the good guy and Buzz Lightyear is an evil bastard. To me, it makes no difference.

That doesn't seem very sensitive. Christianity is that man's lifestyle, and you could have ruined it. Or just gravely offended him. Either way, blaspheming to a priest seems questionable.

(I'm going to sound like a nerd) who's the good guy, the guy who build massive death traps and attempts to enslave humanity or the guy who tries to stop him from randomly killing stuff just because he can.

I'm not religious in any way, so I don't really mind on people's opinions.

Actually, I guess I am slightly religious, in the way I believe in a human soul. Not like "Laughter is the voice of the soul" type stuff, more along the lines of the body being a shell that gets your soul from A to B and lets you do stuff. The soul is essentially your personality, which is technically a bunch of certain chemicals making fusion reactions somewhere in the back-left area of the brain.

Now tell me that religion and science can't co-exist!

Wasn't Satan created to scare the living shit out of the Christians? Love the irony that you could consider him the 'good guy', although the die-hard Christians probably won't buy these arguments . . .

this isnt the first time Satan been known as the good guy
in Paradise Lost Satan almost acts as a sort of protagonist for the story
or preacher where god is a bit of a douche

I'm not religious in any way, I just find that all of them way to many problems with them.

And this is one of the things that ensures that I will never become Cristian.
