because it was our language first, damnit.
Yeah, as snooty as that may sound...however:

Paedo, though I do allow it to be spelt 'pedobear'. You invented the creepy child-molesting bear (or, well, nicked it from the Japanese), but it's still our word.
This is also true.

An entire thread revolving around, of all things, Pedobear.

Good lord.

OT: I pronounce it "PED-O-BEAR" as in how you pronounce pedophile "PED-O-FILE."

Definitely 'Pee-dobear'. I never considered it anything different. But that's the Anglo-American language difference for you.

Play-doo bear... no wait, the other one. Ah, yes: PED-o, because it sounds better in my opinion.

Then you would really hate the guy dressed up as a Pedo Bear I saw a few weeks back at a convention.
Was it a kids convention? Because that would be disturbing, yet awesome.

I would say Pee-dough.

But would totally understand what someone was on about if they said it the other way.

Next question should be - have you ever said pedobear out loud and in what context because I doubt the little fellow comes up in regular conversation.

And personally, the picture of Chris Hansen from dateline (tilting in to the screen at an angle) makes me chuckle more as a meme. Although most folks round me (in the UK) don't get it.

Respect +30.

Keep the Net on the Net. I want it kept in its own little enclave. Like Plessy v. Ferguson. Or the Jewish ghetto in medieval Italy. Or the de facto race situation in my native Boston.

I've always heard it as "pee-do-bear". It puts less stress on the voice because it doesn't have very many variations in pitch.

Example
"Ped-o-bear" - Starts off with a flat tone and that leads off to a low emphasis, following a high pitch. It isn't as easy on the voice.

"pe-do-bear" - Starts off with a high emphasis, low emphasis, high emphasis. It's easier on the voice without the flat tone to begin with.
