So after completing the lead-you-around-by-the-hand section, we were lost. So it sat. For a year and a half. Then at B. Dalton one day, I saw a guidebook. We begged the parents for it and it was bought. So then one of my younger sisters and I set about getting through this game. The first time took us three months. Then we did it again in three weeks. Then we did it again in three days. It opened our minds and led me down a path that would take me to places like StarCraft, Diablo2, Guild Wars, WoW, Sims, GoldenEye, Final Fantasy, Golden Sun, Chrono Trigger, and Fire Emblem. To name a few. We went from Mario junkies to real gamers. LTP will always be special. Without LTP, there might have been no TP for me. How sad!
I love all the people on here crying about "Why is my favourite game of all time on this list with games that suck so hard" or similar.
It's a slightly Ironic poll. The guy has picked games that are HUGELY popular. And then he has asked which of these hugely popular games sucks the most. Just because you think that HL2 is almost perfect with a 96 meta-critic score doesn't mean some people out there don't hate it.
Or the people asking how could you ask if it's possible if Final Fantasy 7 is the worst game? Look at the list ffs. Some of the most popular games of all time. OF ALL TIME! The guy was just asking which game is the least liked out of the most popular of all time. Perfect example is Ghadente.

Also, im not trying to start anything with Ghadente and I apologise for picking what he said specifically to quote, but it was on the page I was replying to. There are a few examples of people saying pretty much exactly what he said only replace FF7 with HL2 or SMB3.

I love how people say they couldn't get into Half-life 2, maybe they should start with Half-Life and then try HL2..

Why are Half-life 2 and FF7 even on this list? Those are (arguably) two of the best games out there- check any game review site.
If you're going to hate games just because they are popular, why isn't Halo on this list? Or SSBB? Or, er, what else do people like today... World of Warcraft...

but, ignoring my ff7 bias, i really don't like this post b/c it focuses too much negative outlooks and anything really involving a discussion on the "worst and/or best" games will breed flaming posts attacking others and whatnot.
I do enjoy all of the games on the list, so i'd rather the post be like "your favorite" or something... maybe i'm just nitpicking (damn lice)
Allow me to first say that I voted for Sonic 3, mostly because it's the one I've played the least.
For all you FF7 haters out there, we'll blow your planet up! We got Death Star, we got Death Star...Ahh...Weird Al...
Sorry, got a little side-tracked there. FF7 was not the perfect game all the fanboys make it out to be. It had it's flaws. However, most of them were outweighed by two things: 3D and the story/character interactions. The scene where Aeris dies is one of the few scenes in gaming that gets me damn close to tears every time I see it. This is because I identify with Cloud (though, after playing Crisis Core through, I have to say that Zack is more me then Cloud is) well. I thought the game was better than many I'd played before.
I'll admit, I'm a little biased. The only FF game I'd played prior to 7 was the Gameboy port of 5, and that game frustrated me no end (A common session would end with me yelling "STUPID F***ING GAME! THE F***ING DRAGON DOES NOT HAVE A GOOGLE HP! IT SHOULD BE DEAD BY NOW!!! GRRRRAAAAHHHH!!!!!!" and nearly throwing my Gameboy out the window). I think that FF7 was one of the greatest games of it's time. At the moment, I'd rather play Fallout 3 or Kingdom Hearts, because the industry has evolved to the point that 3D is no longer a major selling point (and is in fact assumed) and both Bethesda and the current Square Enix have better writers on staff now (at least in my opinion).
You are correct, however, in your judgement of the majority of the fanbase: they are to creepy otaku what creepy otaku are to normal gamers (I don't think I'm either a normal gamer or a creepy otaku; I'm somewhere in between).

As insanely overrated as Half-Life 2 is, it is still a good game, which is more than I can say for Super Mario 3. I'm just not a Mario fan. The series doesn't appeal to me in the least.
This is a nice way to change things up. I have to go with Sonic. By no means bad, but not as good as the others.

Having played half-life 2 through till the end here is why I didn't like it.
1.In Halo the loading is done during cutscenes, in Half-life 2 the game stops you at certain points and all you get to see is an orange bar go across the screen.
2. The overall atmosphere is pathetic in comparison to something like Doom 3.
3. the graphics didn't look at good (to me) as Halo or Doom 3.
4. Cortana> Alyx Vance in terms of how good they look

I'm one of those 'newb gamers' you hear about often, so I don't have much patience for the old 'Nintendo Hard' games. I started with Ocarina of Time and got the love for Zelda and nostalgia from that. Since I started with the 3D Zeldas I didn't care much for the old 2D ones.
