Okay. Does this annoy you? Are you, like me, one of those people that finds it incredibly annoying to see someone confuse these or someone who is too lazy to even think about which one they need? I also find it annoying when people put lower case 'i's when saying: "i had a cake" or something like that, or even capitals in general. Some people seem to hate capitals.

Provided the text is relativly well puncuated, then i'm ok, small errors like incorrect use of there don't bother me unless its blantantly wrong, usually i don't notice these things.

It can be pretty annoying at times, but nothing a heavy sigh and a disapproving shake of the head wont shrug off.
If it makes you feel any better, there are many grammer nazis out there, i'm one of them.

It is one of my pet peeves, or at least a part of it.

In reality, the only time people are excusable for mistaking these is when you're still learning the language. Otherwise....

I'm not so good at ignoring things like this, another one that annoys me is when somebody says "Your" instead of "You're". that is another one of my favorite things to hate.

It really annoys me, but i keep my mouth shut about it. I mean seriously annoys me. Especially when i see someone from the UK or another country with english as its first language make those mistakes.
But i keep my mouth shut because nobody wants to hear me complaining about something so small and petty

If it breaks the meaning of the sentence, then yeah, fix your damn grammar. I can't understand what you're saying, and your message isn't getting through.

Yes it can be kind of annoying.

I mean, depending on how frequent the mistake is. And also its location. Using their instead of they're is annoying.

And switching many times in a paragraph is more annoying.

Yes, it is.
Possibly one of the most annoying sentences anyone has EVER typed to me:"there coming ova 4 dinner 2morrow"

in a discussion, or someone typing on an internet. No. In a piece of prose or a film or a game. yes.

The general public will never totally conform to proper grammer. It's against there (had to do it) nature.

It can be annoying if it's a repeated thing, but I make the occasional grammatical error too, so I can excuse the occasional miss.

I don't think it's a big deal, but I like to get them right regardless, and correct anyone who gets them wrong.

Yes, to the point where I border on obsessive compulsive. But unless someone has written two pages worth of prose, I find it hard to correct them.

For reference, punctuation and grammar can be found in the book 'Eats Shoots and Leaves'(I apologise if there were commas in the title, oh sweet irony), fantastic book.

More than 67% say they're annoyed by this, yet I would wager that less than 67% actually use their words properly.

See what I did there?

Two problems: A, I'm lazy. B, I type faster than I think sometimes so I'm bound to make a mistake.

But I usually do try to pay attention to it for myself. With others however, I don't pay attention. Sometimes English is not their native tongue and sometimes they're just not good at English. I'm not their teacher or their boss so 'f it.
