My first reaction was complete enthusiasm, the first movie was an amazing script that has more twists and turns than i could ever hope for, plus an awesome cast and amazing scenes. The fact that they are filming a second one really makes me look forward to the release. Yet then i started thinking, will this new movie turn out like most sequels and be half as good as the first? Should we just have the amazing movie stand on it's own? which one will this new movie be: a second that belittles the first or a great second addition to an already amazing title? What do you think?

"This is awesome! Can't wait for it to come out!"

The first movie was fantastic!
I just hope they can somehow keep it up for the squeal.

The only issue I had was that you couldn't piece the clues together yourself if you were smart. They showed a leaf, a frog in what appeared to be water, and some other stuff. How were we supposed to know it had paralytic qualities?

Other than that it was an amazing turn and I look forward to a second, as long as it has Robert Downey Jr.

Well, I hear Stephen Fry is Mycroft, so I give it a thumbs up.
Anyway, I liked the first one, and I know it's not the defining Sherlock Holmes, so I don't care much if it sucks - I can only hope that there's another hour and a half of subtle Shwatsonlock goodness.

Hell yeah I can't wait for this, Robert Downy Jr. as Sherlock Holmes is awesome. But if he doesn't say "Elementary my dear Watson" this time i'm going to be really angry. I don't care if he never says it in the books.

This was fairly obvious. The first one was pretty good though, but they could do a little better in the second one.

It was the first Sherlock Holmes story that I felt was true to the spirit of the original novels (the second being the modern-day 'Sherlock' 3-parter on the BBC recently, which they're also apparently doing a sequel series to :D). It had Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law. It had Guy Ritchie at the helm. Of course I'm psyched there's going to be a sequel :D.

Oh, and since it'll apparently be involving Moriarty, that's just double the anticipation and excitement... :p

Of COURSE there was going to be a sequel. They only just introduced Moriarty near the end of the first one, and though my memory has been made hazy by a year of awesome movies, I don't think he was actually dead by the end of it (maybe someone who was supposed to be him...)

The only thing that bothered me and not saying that Holmes and Watson can't be like that but I wasn't picturing them to be "action heroes" like. I understand it would be boring if it wasn't (more action) but isn't that just laziness in script? I was expecting more Holmes's wit in dialog. Overall, I will say I liked and looking forward to the second one then.

I gave the first a B+. OK, not great.

I imagine this will be a bit better, as we've already established his character and won't need to dick around too much at the start. I'll probably see it eventually.

You weren't, near as I can tell. Any clues to the non-magical nature of the villain would have wrecked the plot.

I enjoyed the first one, but it wasn't that great.
It was fun, sure, but really, there wasn't any suspense. There was some uncertainty, sure, but you knew that Holmes was going to win in the end. It's Shurlock Holmes, for Pete's sake. He's not going to lose, he's going to win. And while that's not always bad, that's the reason, to me, that movies like that will never be 'great'. There is conflict, but no 'danger'. He will win. Always.

Anyways, like I said: I enjoyed the film (Heck, I own it), but it wasn't great.
Will I see the sequel? Unless it looks far better then the first, I'll wait 'till it's DVD/Blur-Ray release.

I think it's pretty true to the books in that regard. They weren't just wimpy detectives. Also I think that this was announced a couple of months ago, but good news otherwise.

True, but in star wars, for example, you can watch it again and see if the clues were these from the start, and see if it was actually possible to assertain it all for yourself. Without that information, you can't. It was an interesting turn compared to other mysteries I suppose.

Actually I just flashed back to a scene from one of the 300,000 BBC TV movies where the foppiest-looking Sherlock Holmes ever knocks some ginger's block off in a bar. I need to go comb Youtube for it now...

This criticism is valid. I always viewed Holmes as more adventure and less mystery so it never bothered me.
