Ties. They have many more uses than just completing your outfit. Tourniquet. A cool prop if you're being jumped by henchmen. Something for a very attractive lady to guide you somewhere so she can seduce you. In some strange Macguyver world, I'm sure it can be used to replace a broken belt in your car. While were on the subject of belts, a lady could use it as one when she's wearing nothing but your button down shirt and her heels after she's done seducing you....the list goes on.
Simple both are great and both have their places. I wore my first bowtie about two weeks ago as part of a tuxedo to an Engineers and Welders dinner (sounds boring but they had a band and a comedian so it was great fun plus the boss paid for all the drinks...) but I regularly wear a tie too. I do feel the need to quote my old history teacher now though, "A real man knows how to tie a bowtie." after several attempts to get him to show us how to do so he finally relented only to be unable to tie it himself good times...
No, but really I always wear a tie except for very special occasions where a bowtie is really the protocol however they are few and far between so it's the tie for me.
