First off sorry if this has already been done recently, I used the search bar but could find nothing specifically on this topic.

OT: Turbo (or rapid-fire) controllers have been around for quite a while, and I even owned one for the ps2, but I wan't to hear what other people think about them.

I would consider turbo controllers a universal cheat that is becoming an increasing problem in online games. In almost every game on COD4 before MW2 came out someone was using a turbo controller.

I can't think of that many games where it would be helpful anymore other than the odd quicktime event here and there.

I had a N64 controller which had a "trubo" button on it. apparently that translates as the "break the console" button.

not sure if that's what you're referring to.

tbh, I'd imagine PC gamers will suffer from this way more (what with the huge variety of mouses) but you don't here us complaining.

Games like CoD where you have semi-automatics that can be turned full auto unbalence the game. Usually these have more power, less recoil, and more accuracy to compensate but when people can go full auto with it, they can often empty a clip in seconds and kill everyone.

I'm pretty sure he kills you then. Haven't done it myself, because I dare not defy him.

i just want to say, why would you need one for single player? surly their only used in multiplayer, bit pathetic if you have to use them on single player..
and of course their cheating.. gives you an obvious advantage over other players, how could it not be cheating?

In single player they can help you get past a particularly tough level (well used to on the PS2, they just don't make tough games anymore)

And I was only wondering if you considered them as cheating, I know people that don't

What do turo controllers actually do? I've had several for my PS1 and PS2 and all of them were broken in some way, usually the D pad would screw up or buttons would fall out or the games would get stuck on the pause screen.

My parents bought me them because they were cheap. There may be a corrolation between those two statements

on single player isnt an issue in my opinion, everyone to their own.. doesnt stop it being pathetic, why buy a hard game if all you're going to do its cheat and cut corners, why not browse online for a guide and unlimited health cheat, no games are that hard you can't pull the trigger quick enough (which is what basically turbo pads do)

I agree that they are pathetic but I have to protect my point that they do help on single player, for instance on TimeSplitters:FP It would allow you to mow down enemys pretty quickly if you used it with any of the pistols on that game.

Whats a turbo controller?
Allows you to virtually press a button on the controller a large number of times a second by just holding down the button, E.G. It would allow you to unload a clip of pistol in under a second just by holding the button down.

Its not cheating if its a quick time event, it is on MP.

I hate button bashing.

Actually, he didn't know. He was just bluffing, it turns out :3

Anyway, I consider it cheating (Well, in multiplayer).
Not much more I can say.
