I never got TV Tropes, yeah sure some of my friends have linked me to it but I only read what the link says and "X" of the page. Can someone tell me why people find it so addicting?

1 Word: hyperlinks. Or is it hyper links? Or hyper-links?

*ahem*

Anyway. Most tropes have so many references to other tropes it makes my natural curiosity overload with awesomeness. I just keep clicking and clicking. At one point I had about 20 tabs open, all from TV Tropes and I bet that that's low compared to plenty of other people out there. Sure I always start with 1 that I get linked through something, but then I find an interesting hyperlink to a different trope on that very page, often several.

I find something inherently satisfying about learning new but incredibly trivial knowledge, especially about all kinds of media. I can just as well spend a whole day on Wookieepedia, but TV Tropes trumps them all with it's wealth of information.
