I actually liked it, the humor was a bit excessive (to say the least) but the dramatic stuff I actually liked. It was humbling to see that the perfect author avatar actually has a pretty shitty life, it's nice to see the flawed, vulnerable human side in the characters (even if said character is a dog)

haven't watched since season 4, it was just kinda 'meh' when it came back from cancelation. loved the chicken fight returning but then apparently they did that joke again recently. found first season of american dad shit but second season was actually pretty good, especially when stan's boss sleeps with his daughter...that was sick in a hilarious way.

It was a comedy without any jokes in it.[/quote]

So is any other "comedy" excluding the amazing south park, I'm sure someone here enjoys Seinfeld, the office, or always sunny in Philadelphia. I can't stand any of them. It's just my opinion, but I think even shock value is better than no value.

I think it was supposed to be more of a character development episode, which is strange for a comedy show, but whatever. I never really got the vibe that they were trying to be funny. I wouldn't watch the episode again, but I didn't mind it too much.

Eh, that episode sounds terrible, disgusting, humorless, and down right pointless. Glad I didn't watch it. I've been a fan of the series in its early years, and when the jokes were actually funny. Today's FG seem to the route of trying to be offensive to be funny, but ending up being offensive to be offensive b/c of poor writing and Seth getting his screws loose.

FG should have died long ago.

I am getting used to not liking the new stuff as much, but this episode was just awful. It wasn't funny at all, frankly it was just the worst half hour I ever sat through (I didn't bother with the musical stuff after that). I still love the older stuff, though.

Around the time he was licking the shit I said "why the hell am I watching this"

At that point I switched to American Dad, which was MUCH funnier

You have to remember that Family Guy has a track record for being crass, politically incorrect, and controversial. That said, I actually enjoyed the episode, though I too found it rather gross. There was a strange pseudorealism to it, though. Everything you call pointless is pointless for a reason. Everything they did when they were drunk, they did because they were drunk and had impaired thought processes. Thus the piercing and it subsequently going horribly wrong, the argument, all that.

You also have to remember that we're dealing with a baby and a dog here, neither of whom are the sharpest tools in the shed. You can't expect a lot of "intelligent" humor, especially not with this show.

The first half of the show felt like watching a really awkward fetish porn video. The second half felt like watching a really awkward Sundance drama. Probably one of the oddest episodes of any show that I've seen.

As a gun owner/enthusiast, I hated family guy long before they started losing quality. Even when they took the show more or less seriously, they based their skits and political opinions on assumptions, not facts.

I never liked or regularly watched Family Guy, but I can explain the musical numbers in the episode. Apparently, a week long event on the Fox Channel involved numerous series on the channel to have at least one musical segment on one of their episodes ("Fox Rocks", I think they call it.)

Just a day ago, this was the opening intro of The Simpsons

Well, Family guy has pretty much become the uncontested bastard of what it originally was. No one just stands up and says "Hey, McFarlane, Maybe you should consider firing your writing staff and going back to sitcomy storylines with a few non sequitors"

Well, the episode was... mixed. The first half sucked, but the last half was very heartfelt and emotional, and I respect that. I also respect that there were no cutaway gags, which the show is infamous for. They experimented, and while the experiment might have failed you have to give them credit for trying.
