You scored 16 out of a possible 24

You have failed, the pass mark was 75% According to the Life in the UK Test, you have insufficient knowledge of the English language or of life in the UK to remain. What would you change about the test if you could? Head over to our open thread and let us know.

I do Government and Politics... and passed with an A...
What a fucking obtuse test...

I know tones and tones of history...
Do I know what Dialects are spoken in Northern Ireland? No.
Can I give a full account of Ireland during the time of the IRA? Yes.

That test is ridiculously obtuse...

Give me history of importance to the founding of modern British society, give me current information that should be know (I like the fact they asked what our constitution was) not most of that test.

I passed with 20/24, but I have no idea how, as I guessed around 1/3 of the answers, just got lucky I guess. IMO, most of them are stupid questions and I don't feel thank knowing the answers to them, will make you any more British.

I'm not opposed to the idea of a citizenship test, but they need to put a lot more work in to the questions. Perhaps what they need to do, is go out and talk to some us about what we feel makes us British. We need a clear definition of what makes a person British, and of what values are important to a British person, before we can design a test to assess people's "Britishness"

When the average British citizen can't pass the test then how can we expect people who haven't been here all of their lives to be able to? It's unfair, very unfair, and I really feel bad for anyone who is having to take one of these tests.

Whichever idiot make this test up must REALLY hate immigrants, I did GCSE history and got an A for it and didn't know the answers to 70% of those questions! That 'quiz' has nothing to do with Britain half the time and it's just random facts that are totally irrelevant, I hope they change it =/

and yes I DID fail it and I AM British.

We have a similar test in Denmark, or had, I know the new government isn't as anal about it. You had to get 40 out of 48 correct, and some of the questions correct answers were factually inaccurate.

I didn't brush up on UK history for this one though so 12 out of 24 isn't bad.

heh. I'm American.
Congratulations, you hold the current record :p the spread of answers seems to be pretty random though. It seems to be mostly guesswork.

Yeah, this is my issue with the test, it was a load of pointless facts. They should have gone more into detail with the constitution, asking what rights you have as a British citizen. Anything that doesn't require pointlessly memorising numbers.

Well that was an interesting series of questions. I don't see how they make me more or less British though. Seriously, some were just... odd.

barely passed, with 18/24. i'm an american, too. i was surprised that i had to do very little guessing, though grateful because am clearly a bad guesser.

EDIT: went back and tried again. 23/24, just by changing my responses on the true/false and double checking the button i clicked before submitting. i really hope the "one" i keep getting wrong isn't that there's only a 5% pay rate difference between men and women; that would just be backwards and silly.
