Meh, pretty much everything new I've played for the last two years has been over-hyped. Weren't it for Mass Effect 2, I'd probably have lost my hope for the industry... Actually games like ME2 that have something unique going for them (looking at the industry as whole - still not conviced Bioware has ever made more than one game), instead of the action-adventure hybrid crap, have been the ones that felt genuinely great.
All these action adventure games... Arkham Asylum, Uncharted 2, inFamous, GTA and even MGS4... They try to be the greatest game ever too much. Sure they are solid quality, but in the same way bricks are perfectly square.
Too much focus on being all around great and acceptable, too little personal touches and uniqueness. Some of the best games never were technically that great or flawless, but had obviously some heart put into them, which made the fun and fulfilling to play.
Most new games feel soulless, straight off the assembly line -great. I liked it more when there was some quirkiness in games and they didn't take themselves so damn serious.
